You know him as Darryl from the Office or Doug "the Pontiac Bandit" Judy from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and most recently as simply Craig from Killing It on Peacock. Renowned comedian and actor Craig Robinson pulled up a chair to the Comedy Roundtable in the green room of the Punchline Comedy Club in Atlanta, Georgia before heading out on stage. Craig Robinson closed out the old showroom of the Punchline before it moved to its current location adjacent to the World Famous Landmark Diner. The crowd was eager for Craig to hit the stage, so we did a rapid fire version of Comedy Roundtable for this episode. The unscripted, one take mid segment returns to bridge our two segments.

Ladies and gentleman, comedy roundtable these are great questions. Yes, good comedian a math question. Really good question. Thank you. This is so much fun, you guys. Oh, that is a good question. And that lightning round was so fun. That's a really good question. comedy fans Khan versation enthusiast. It is a brand new episode of the comedy roundtable. Pull up a chair settle in. We have a great conversation for you this episode. Let's get this party started. Jamie Pendel Jamie, Hernan Adam. Hey look at you getting in on the game. I appreciate that. Usually, you're so negative about him giving me the big intro. I just figured people deserve to hear it in stereo. I didn't even know that our podcast was available in stereo. Yeah, it is actually. And actually, if you put the SAP button, it's available in Spanish. We have saved a cheer for you, our listener and we've also saved to cheer here at the roundtable for our guest this evening. Greg Robinson, this episode of comedy roundtable here at the punch line comedy Club punch line celebrating our 40th anniversary this year. And our guest Greg Robinson was the last headliner in the original showroom. I close it down. It was a high honor to be was it scheduled because we're here No, this was it. We knew we had it was the end. The end of the run was coming. Nobody followed me in that club ever. That was it. Oh, that was it. That was nobody can follow you. Literally I'm not saying that. I'm saying that that club. So we shut down. We cut up the boards. We brought him here to inside the landmark diner took over half the room. Now you're back on this stage for the first time. It's been a treat to have you here. So thank you. Thank you. Well, I'm gonna treat to be here. Alright. So we're gonna do real quick because you have a set to do. Yes, there is a performance going on right now. You have a very deliberate preset ritual. very deliberate. Yes. That we want to make sure we don't interrupt. So the audience this evening gets the full Greg Robinson experience. Exactly. Thank you. You actually have Reggie's here in the greenroom with us and I saw times Mr. Reggie Hines, Benji wandered around in the club. So lungs must have been to the lungs. I feel like they're gonna get the full experience tonight. We're gonna get some music. Yeah, we're gonna get a little some of the vaccine. Not the whole NASA delicious. But you got some of the nasty, nasty, not nasty, delicious, just nasty. I hear. Alright, so easy format of the show. We do Lightning Rounds, Greg. So we pose questions, you get to pick the Category or Category. Okay, so I'm gonna make it super easy for you. We're going to do this in the most abbreviated way. Okay, so Topic number one things that get you ready, loner versus Team mood music. Well, and one of those three things that gets you ready, loner versus team versus Team loner versus Team. All right, starting with Jamie. Alright, so it's you alone versus a team of small but feisty elementary school kids. What are your tactics for ensuring victory? Kick, push, kick, push through, push through kick pushed. Oh, yeah, that's actually a good technique. So you start with a kick. Then the player whoever's come the first is gonna kick. Yeah, and then and I'm sure I had to push a couple of them some by that time, some will have gotten close. So you have to throw those momentum. You just kick push thrown in actually take one and like, spin them around. Oh, like the other ones? Yes. Exactly. Nice move. Exactly. Like by hands or by ankles. Probably by by my arms by arms for sure. Yeah. Unless they try to kick me the upgrade angle. The first kick has got to be convincing enough that they the next kid is second guessed so they're they're their friends. I imagine there's more than one coming I'm kind of like kicking them by the time you got away pushing. And then he's doing the spin with the throat with the throat well, that what song is playing in the background? The one else play into what's the what's the movie with the the gentleman you know, I'm talking about the whatever had the suits and they were gentlemen. And the do who played Elton John was in it and Colin Firth and they were the Kingsman king-smith. Thank you. Yes. Thanks, Ben. For dogs when he went to church and walked everybody Oh, nice, clean. Yeah, that is a good call. All right, Adam, what you got? Alright, team versus loner. So if you were superhero? Would you rather be a loner superhero? Kind of like a Batman? Or like a team guy like Avengers kind of thing? No, I'd be the solo guy for sure. Yeah. Yeah, Batman, or Superman or a type of man. Just kind of titled in time for to IPO. Take your pants off, man. Oh, take your pants off, man. I didn't even know that guy exists. He's like DC or is that Marvel? He's sounds more DC Robinson I have a question about music. Okay, one of the things that I enjoy about watching your show is it's very engaging and audience gets drawn in. Right? Okay. Okay. And what I love is the recognition of song when you play a couple of notes and the rest of the audience kind of has that moment where they're like, Okay, this is the song right? All right. What is the difference in experience when you are by yourself versus when you have like Reggie or Benji and the rest of the guys what is that experience? Take it because I've never been in a band. It's I don't know what that's like. It's like Clark Kent versus Superman. You know what the band would be I'm Superman I can do no wrong I got the beat going I could prove it. Yeah, and then the other one you know is in the I can have solos and just it's just a higher vibration now you're vibrating high when it's just me I'm gonna say him is bad but it's just like when I got that to meld and fall back into with the band goal is just a higher vibration. How many times do you have to adjust the song to say this song gets enough of a response but I want a song that gets a bigger response. Oh, I don't even know if there's an adjustment it's not that cut anything out. Just things I didn't think to do at this time. You know, I haven't been doing like I did just add recently that you know, talking away I don't know how long Yeah, pass a muster so it's really just kind of filling the crowd out like here I've been doing a devil went down to Georgia just because we can you still seeing somebody's fucking your lady. I will need somebody who knows the other part in a bit but yes. Michael McDonald singer. I was trying to get like some like Doobie Brothers in there. Alright, that's gonna do it for the first segment here with Craig Robinson in the greenroom. Don't wander away too far. We will be back with one more segment with Mr. Craig Robinson. What kind of crime would have to be occurring for you to call type of man type? Oh, man, that's type of man. Take your panties off. Greg Robinson, our guest told us if he was a superhero, yes, he would be a loner superhero. Kind of like Batman or Superman or type of man type of take your panties off man. I'm just Why do you keep saying that's what type of man is T for take? Oh I for your T shirt. I thought he was like, grammatical guy. I thought he was solving typos because by the way I could use that like the bike with my texting. I could use a typo man to be like come in here and be like hold on a second build said that there it's there. This type of man just come in to knock the phone out of someone's hand that you just send a text to that you do it. That he just comes in fixes it all. It can be really awkward though if you call it the wrong type of man because there's typo grammatical man and then just typo take your panties off man go and if they got sent into the wrong context, right that's why the acronyms kind of bad yeah, because it's could be totally the wrong context. To do the type of man whenever fight with type of man. Imagine the title the time because one guy is trying to get grammar online and the other one is trying to get people to take their panties off. Right? Do you think that type of a man would have a problem with the fact that panties is a plural sounding word for a singular piece of clothing? Mind blown. Do you know why the Annie's version of typo man doesn't want the grammatical type of man take the panties off? Why? Because of the dangling participles clean partisan. So his job is job is to think about your dangling participles are they something about my dangling participles the guests one more quick section here as you get ready to take on the stage last set of the weekend here at the punch line comedy club in Atlanta. The Final Countdown final countdown will you do it mood music or things that get you ready? Get you ready? Also, we went to the floating stimulation do stimulation. Across the street? Yes, yes. Yeah. deprivation. Me, Austin and Jordan. Had you done it before? Never. What do you think it was exactly what they claim you go in there and you float around for a little while float and you just you lose? Everything is just a blackness. Okay, and you there and then you get to go with my mind got very still though. Did you like it? Yeah, it was cool. It was cool. It was little. I was a little nervous in the beginning just because pitch black in the room. You're in a tank tank. You didn't have to close the tank all the way so that I did that. Okay. I didn't do that. I would think about doing that old school. I would feel trapped. I think in the tank. It's it's a trip you have to get past it. I didn't think I We're gonna make it fun, but I'll have to check it out. All right, things that get you ready, Jamie? All right name something so irritating to you that people do regularly that makes you just want to go gloves up and fight. When I say, Are you Craig Roberts didn't say yes. No, you're not. Oh, okay. Now at that point, I don't know why it gets me so quick. At that point. I'm like, Okay, I'm not. Are you? Yeah. So it's like, I don't know what you want me to say. I just told you. I am him. I don't know why that bothers me. But are you really holding up cameras? Like, for 10 minutes doing the show? And security not doing anything about it? Yeah. Okay, we'll get it. We'll crack down on that. Then. This evening. Some of them depending on which night it was a nice, sunny. I was one girl last night was doing it. And I invited her I was so livid. She got a call. She's like, when I go see a magazine, you can now put down your camera. You can see me tonight. I was here. What makes you think it's the awareness? Yeah. How you have no awareness? My question was, we had two categories mood musical, what gets you ready? Truth is, I got the same question for both categories. And that is, as a musical act, what do you do to get yourself ready? Like what music do you listen to? That gets you kind of like, is it jazz? Is it classic? r&b? What actually, no, no, no, for an act get you ready to go out? You know, there was a time when I will play three songs. Yeah. One was spiritual one was grounded, you know, a new, like, get connected. And, and one was to remind myself to have fun. It was like a Rocky theme. It was like a Kirk Franklin gospel song. And it was like, Earth when a fire like, nice. Which one was the grounded one? Do the rocky, nice, round us out? Round us out. Okay, for things to get ready. All right. I have appreciated the fact is that lightning enough? Yeah, it is. So what has been enjoyable and what I appreciate when you're here at the club, and particularly, I think you sort of do things what I consider now to be old school. And by that I mean, you have a group of people that you feel tight with, that you have fun with on stage, and it's for the betterment of the experience for the customer, right, the person who comes and sees your show, but every night in the greenroom, there is a repetition of banging knuckles, right. It's the thing that goes on, and this is what we do, how important is it in your peer group and not people who you feel closest to, to kind of have those things, those things that get you ready for, for being with them and being in those experiences. It's a connection, you know, before you go out, it's important, but if it didn't happen, you know, it didn't happen. But for the most part we're trying to seek to it's just one of those things that hey, you know, I got your back. I'm ready. You know, it's like you're on a team. Yeah, if you're going to get off the bench going into the game, alright, go get them. Yeah. And then you know, it's it happens everywhere we go, right. It's also you know, that too, like, no matter where we go, we still here. All right, well, that's gonna do it for us with this very quick because your turn to tap knuckles and head out out there for this show. It's been a treat to have you here. Thank you continued success. Mr. Craig Robinson. Mr. Craig Robinson, if you go into my Instagram was second season second season of killing it. This time, Mona Lisa Bloodmoon. Just came out on Friday. Once the car has been out, and you can get it video I guess, whatever the the bad guys. And then you know, like it's killing it. Peacock TV, check it out. All right. I appreciate it. We're gonna go out there and drag some people out of here. We've got about right. kick somebody in there. Jamie, Jamie and Adam and Mr. Craig Robinson. This is the comedy roundtable here at the punch line comedy Club. We will catch you next time. Let's try it
