NOTE: At the time this episode was recorded, Comedy Roundtable was known as the BHHcast (pronounced "Bah"-cast), which is why you will hear references to the BHHcast, our listeners who we referred to as the Sheep, and our hosts who were referred to as the Shepherds. Enjoy a little bit of Comedy Roundtable history with this episode.
Comedy Roundtable welcomes Joe Bolter to the show. Joe is the co-host of the Question Guys Podcast and the Executive Producer of the Netflix is a Joke Radio show What a Joke with Papa & Fortune on Sirius/XM. He has also been a writing partner, director and producer for Craig Ferguson's comedy specials and the producer and on air co-host for the Craig Ferguson Show. But, until now, Joe had not been on the Comedy Roundtable - not even once.
Comedy Roundtable had managed to get this far without the scourge of scandal, but alas it has now hit - and twice in one episode. First, Adam and Jamie accuse the other Jamie of being a bit on the grumpy side. And then, maybe proving that he was a bit on the grumpy side, the other Jamie accused Tom Papa of fake baking bread during the pandemic. When will it end?
The shepherds managed to do not one, but two improv, one-take fake promo spots on the topic of celebrity bread and drag them out to the length of a mini-episode, but why do a mini-episode when Comedy Roundtable can make this episode that much longer. This episode is long, but you should listen to it twice. First, to truly get the essence of the show, and the second time to pump up our download numbers.
So, what will you learn by listening to this episode? How about what the currency of the apocalypse will be and what the odds are that Bendall's family makes the cut to join him on the ship to populate Mars. If that wasn't enough, you might learn a thing or two about the man of the hour (and a half), Joe Bolter.
Finally, Craig Ferguson isn't Craig Ferguson without Joe Bolter. Tom Papa is not Tom Papa without Joe Bolter. Fortune Feimster isn't Fortune Feimster without Joe Bolter. Netflix is not Netflix without - well, that one might be a stretch. But, Comedy Roundtable knew it wasn't Comedy Roundtable without Joe Bolter, so enjoy the show!

conduct this interview, like you are emailing him. But reply, let's not reply all. Yeah, every time I say something to Joe, I'm gonna end it by saying Best regards. I like how you sign our emails. Not too aggressively right? That's right. Best regards. Yeah, you're currently using Best regards. Yes. But if you get an email from me that says respectfully it means I don't like you. Wow. If I email and I say Best regards, I'm fine to you respectfully. No, let's just show I apologize for that. And I'm we're gonna have to delay the beginning for just another second because there was some speculation about some what should have been lay up guests declining to participate on the show? And I'm now beginning to wonder if it has to do with a Best regards email. Yeah, I mean, I hear your email game is your strength but that best regards stuff that sounds like crap. Yeah. If we were in the if we were in the business podcast genre best regard them all day long. Yeah. Why don't you all the best? All the best? I mean, you might as well throw in like barely very truly yours. He sound? Is that what you want? Or what are you looking for? I think you just go with your name at the end of the thing, right. Hey, listen. What do you do? The time sounds the stuff. Jamie. Hey, Jody, you and Cornell have an extra seat in your studio. Alright, some changes. Come on. I'm looking. We're three best regards. Deep in our email. Calling it up. So we got three best regards. Oh, and then some No, no, goodbye. Just kind of get in. Okay, that's it from the mobile device. And then another Best regards? Yeah. Wow. Okay. Interesting. Yep. All right. Well, we did get some answers. They're gonna talk to you. This is gonna be interesting. We just have answers. All right. So let's begin now ready to go. People around here trust the shepherds, Jamie. And do that mother Jamie. They always have the sheep trust me to gather round. I'll throw another log on the fire. Turn it up just a touch because another episode of the bog cast is starting now. Welcome, welcome. Welcome sheep gather around Jamie Bendel Jamie Hernan Dum. Wow. Thank you, Jamie. What's the longest you think you carry that out? Keep trying to go for longer? I think so. I think you can do it. That's where you start. Yep. Can you get low is hard to push. Yeah. Jealous? Yes. So guys, No, I'm good with it now. Are you though? No, no, I'm alright. This is another episode. We have a guest that we did a very fun interview with one of our longer guests interviews. Oh, yeah. And, and really covered some very interesting ground. most challenging part of the episode interview was the attitude that Jamie hat. What's go what's going on, man? I'm good. I don't know which I mean, did we not just say let's not talk about me being cranky. listen to the podcast. We're gonna be worried about oh, my God, what's going on over there? Yeah, I think you guys are harping on this. I think we should move on. Okay. Well, honestly, this is sheep. You're referring to the judge in this episode, because I'm just telling you. Let's watch out because you've got one grouchy shepherd. Coming through this episode. How are you feeling today? You feeling all right? I've got a COVID shot. I'm feeling like we should practice shooting babies me or something like that. Try lifting your arm. Oh, look at that. Look at you. two arms in the air. I got COVID Shaq coming tomorrow. Yeah. And I wisely went to the gym and banged out my pushups before I went got my shot scheduled the appointment late enough in the day to know that I could get my other stuff done. And I'm were you wondering if he went to the gym? Yeah, I'm so glad we actually got a gym discussion. And I'm just so that humblebrag over there could get I just want to make sure that if I had a bum arm honestly, like we can't. Yeah, we shot today. That means leg day tomorrow. leg day. One thing I'm worried about is going to work and people are gonna expect one Jamie look like the Hulk. Right? He talks about Yeah, you're gonna be really upset if someone else takes you for you. Yeah, I spent most of my time at the gym doing Zumba classes. It was very efficient. got in and out. Nice. Good. Good to hear no time. And uh, hopefully we get out of this thing quickly. Yeah, there are like nine people at the table. For administration. There was a nurse. There was an observer. There were two people that were logging my information. Wow. Wow. getting it done. It's interesting. We live in a world where we have to observe that what elitist vaccine distribution site Did you go to where you had five people? Oh, they came to the house? Yeah, yeah. No, they can't come to the house. Right. I don't know. I don't know if I actually got a COVID vaccine. Oh, girl. I know. I I don't know. I keep saying people go out. Yeah, I could have gotten You know, flu shot and a shingles booster? Yeah. And I'm thinking I don't need to wear a mask anymore. towncars driven driving them to the podcast studio. Yeah. Hold on what I want. Yeah, we look at the budget line. towncars not me, not you. Why do you think I come late every time you're dropped off? Thank you. No, no, no, but it is. It was good. It was good to go get shot. So it's good. Jamie has his you know, you got yours tomorrow, so Well, we're gonna be clear. I did get a message that the vaccine center where I was scheduled to get my second dose closed down for why COVID outbreak for good COVID outbreak. tracer. Yeah, I got the shot. was talking about his dad was administering the shot. Should be cough cough. Yeah. So it was just ice cream. That's the essence of the email was you need to find somewhere else to get your second shot. Good luck. Wow. They didn't even give you some suggestions. I gave me some links. Well, shoot. I hope that you guys are getting your vaccines I as soon as possible. Yeah. I hope that if you've been sick that you're getting through it, okay. Right. And yeah, if we if we actually had travel to Mars, think of the kind of vaccines we need to go. I mean, think about the different things that we would find when you think about that, like, cruise ships. Ultimate cruise ship, isn't it right? You got to survive the trip? Yeah. survive the trailer? No, no, no, no. Oh, no, no, I need an error sounder. No, no, no, like, uh, ever since I did, ever since I did an intro. I'm just I'm not No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, you don't want to talk to error. I don't want like, No, no, I don't need that. I just need like, Warning Warning. Kinda. Yeah. And, and, okay, you're going because he did that. Okay. There are no diseases where you're going. Now, first of all, they're sterile things. So you only have to eradicate Earth diseases. What I'm saying you have to get you have to make it on the trip. And then when you get there with me, obviously there's a bunch of aliens there. Right. So there's all kinds of alien disease. Oh, yeah, there's not you're you're in a sterile environment. You're in here to dig deeper in the rabbit holes of the internet and you will learn that there are aliens there. On Mars. There are definitely Mars. Yeah, aliens. Here are aliens on Mars. Well here as well. Yes, but but on Mars. Of course. There are no aliens on Mars. And there's no no aliens on Mars. Have you seen the rover footage? There's nothing Yeah, the planet is uninhabited. You don't believe that rover footage Do you? Oh my gosh. We're totally losing this guy. He's going off the deep end. Wait, you're telling me that you believe that? There are no aliens here. You believe in the rubber footage and you think there's no one alien test that I know solves it. And anybody that can't go? Like an air horn like they those are definite aliens. Why don't you go ahead and see if you can do that. I don't believe in aliens. I really don't. Oh, so don't think that the no alien test comes through your back. No aliens here. The rubber footage is fantastic. I love it. Okay, and there's nothing on Mars. But the trip would be dangerous. air horn. You might be an alien. No. She got a good show coming up. We have Joe bolter. Our guest Yeah. He's terrific. Yeah. If you're interested in celebrity bread, you definitely want to stick around for the entirety of the interview because there is a fascinating discussion about celebrity bread, and a loaf we may never be seeing. Yep. Thanks to exist, the bread exists. I'm not saying the bread does not exist. We talk a little apocalypse. Some questions. learn a little bit about where we rank stack rank and the overall population of the world. So there's a lot to check out. Ferguson comes up. Alright, it's a good episode. It's a good episode. You guys are gonna love it. taka taka get comfy. It's gonna be good. We'll be right back with Joe voltar. guys, what's up, man? All right, we are a year into the pandemic. It's been rough. And you may recall that when the pandemic started, there were a lot of people that were into baking bread at home. It was a bit of a fad. Yeah, that whole sourdough thing. I have launched a brand new store so this is a segment I'm sponsoring. Whoa. Oh Ireland sponsor changing something up but it's great and it's a little bit of a side hustle. It is Jamie Bendel's secondhand celebrity brand. Tell me about it. Have you ever wanted a slightly stale loaf of bread that was made by one of your favorite celebrities? I'd probably prefer it not to be slightly stale. But I the the celebrity bread factor really does bring it up. It's the bread look like a particular image or is it to have a bigger shape we have through extensive contacts source, the very best in secondhand celebrity breads. So the celebrity is making the bread making the bread you're sure about how do you verify that we verify every loaf comes with a blue mark, okay, of authenticity. Do you have Jennifer Garner, because my wife has been watching Jennifer Garner, if you prefer female celebrities, you have plenty. Oh, really. We have male celebrities, we have musicians, we have movie stars, we have all the big ones, everybody, all the celebrities who were making bread at the beginning of the pandemic we have gotten, I can taste that you can now taste a little bit old, you can put a year of pandemic between two slices. Secondhand celebrity, have you thought about freezing bread? You know that they just freeze it and then some of the bad could be frozen. See, I think that might not be the best some of the bread could be frozen, because we do not we don't get into the breads, backstory. Okay, we just put our mark of author under shirts authentic, and it is guaranteed. Secondhand celebrity bread. I think that sounds delicious. Get in there and help our federal Shepherd out and buy some of that brigs it sound a little bit crispy. Good. Hey, guys, we got a new sponsor. Oh, good. Good. Good. What's up? So this sponsor, anybody wants to give us money? I'm in Yeah, honestly. Can we just agree? Yeah, we don't have to like the product. But this one, I do love a lot of our products. And honestly, I don't want our sheep thinking that we're going to give them something bad. Now, here's what I would say. If you are a listener of this. We are by way of example, recommending another podcast. Yes. That's all legit on the level. Yes. If we are talking about a product or service, yes, there should be some skepticism. I don't think so. But let's get back to Okay. Yes. Okay. A new sponsor. What's the story? Okay, so are you into this a lot? Oh, it's it's a lot of bread. are they paying you more than Jamie then the second and celebrity right? I mean, it couldn't be less. Honestly, I can't believe we're giving you that deal. Anyhow, get in on the ground floor. When I get when I do my side side hustle. I'm expecting the same same thing. So back to this sponsor. So have you ever been given bread that was claimed to have been baked by a celebrity and you just know that's not true, but you need to run some sort of test to verify the authenticity? Never know, but it doesn't happen? I assume somebody gives me a loaf of bread and says it was made by somebody. Yeah, I trust that. That's who made it. Are you that? Doesn't it? I mean, like, do you think that people actually go claim to that? They made a birth and they didn't not for editing purposes. But can you just both say a word? What's going on in your world? Say the word? Yes. Yes. Just say the word. Yes. No, no, just don't talk everyday. Right? Go? Oh, yeah, that's happened to me. Yes. I'm sorry to hear that. But our sponsor can solve this problem for you. How do you do it? sourdough bread residue wipes? You can wipe this claim celebrity bread. Okay, can I just interrupt for just a second? Oh, Lord, Can Can you maybe reach out to them and see if they can maybe change the name of the WIPE TO soured out? When you question the validity of your bread? Do you have sour doubts use sourdough? You know, I mean, I think honestly, that's an incredible idea. And you should be working for the marketing department for sourdough wipes. I'm going to go ahead and just call them sour doubts, because clearly the sponsor is going to change the name. So I think we can just go ahead and use our so I think you're making sense now. Yeah. So if you use this hour down, you can rub it across the hand of the celebrity that is falsely claiming to have baked the bread. Okay, let's take a random celebrity like Tom pop, okay. That's not how the product works. You've never used the product. You take us out, you put it in your palm. Now you meet your celebrity know that your poem, I have the sourdough. I meet the celebrity. I shake hands. There's no hand shaking. We're in the middle of a pandemic. Well, how am I how am I liking a celebrity's hand to verify their bread I'm touching I mean, you're making hand contact but there's our doubt if you put your hand out for that celebrity, they're not gonna shake your hand but they're supposed to let me wipe their hand within an hour. can be subtle. It's a little walk while suddenly wipes, baby wipes. kind of walk by little drive by and it's easy. Kind of creeped does that if you're like lifting fingerprints off of waterglass invite a celebrity over the gave you offer them a cup of water. I don't have the celebrity dropped a loaf of bread at your house, offer them water and then use our doubt how many people are buying this stuff like this whether giving us so much money is because it can't be selling No, there's a lot Look, there are celebrities out there that are claiming in the pandemic they became bread bakers. That is not true. It Oh, there's a lot there was a lot of celebrity bread. That's how it went into business. There's a lot of celebrities out there using this product, because it'll help you with verification of your brand. Your celebrity brand. Are you questioning Is it possible? Is it possible that you could use a sour doubt to also test whether or not a person was in a sour mood or not know what I would like to use that product? We could use it right here in this podcast. Is it possible for way longer than a guest interview? I would wipe your hands were started taking it as we speak Yeah, cuz here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna take the soured out we're gonna switch that around. And it's gonna be basically be a mood detector a mood to taste like. It's like a mood. Yeah, it's like a wet wipe. But her attitude Yeah. Are you being sour? Are you salty? I feel like as a result of this promo when we have our guests interview, I'm going to be in a foul mood because of what you've just done to me right now. Really? Okay, thanks. I was gonna be so bright and airy But no, here's here's now you have made it. You've ruined the guest. He doesn't know is before you even started the show. We put sour doubt on the door handle outside and sure enough came up salty. Cheap when you're going to Jamie Bendel's secondhand slavery bred to a mall near you. We've gone into some leasing we're at we're being very successful. I mean, really? You go in bricks and mortar. I thought that would be no absolutely. It's bricks and mortar. None of these are real products, all bricks and mortar these days. It's all bricks and we're going to the show. I don't think anything. See you later. She All right. Welcome back. This is the vodcast Jamie bendele Jamie Hernan Adam Hague. And we are about to introduce our guest for this episode. And probably most of the people who listened to this podcast, have actually listened to this guests work and may not have known it we are welcoming in to this episode, Joe bolter. Joe is the executive producer of Netflix is a joke radio, and more specifically, two people. One I know better than the other is with the show. What a joke with Tom Papa and fortune Feemster. So, got it right. Yeah. Welcome to the show. Welcome. Who's that guy? Oh, wow. That's a deep cut for people who also wouldn't know me which I do do an intro. I'm like, Oh, wow. Most people know me by the fact that they wouldn't know who I am. Because the who set up the doors reference to me in a horse costume. And then the WHO THE What a joke is the guy behind behind the board, I guess you'd say in radio behind the scene. Right? That's that's actually been an interesting. It's kind of an interesting to see that podcast in particular show, I guess. Come together. Yeah. So Oh, do we have questions about that show specifically? Well, so how did I know that we know that I've broached the subject. How did those two wind up together on that show? So my understanding is that it was Tom was chosen first. And then he asked if fortune could be the co host with him. And yeah, with him. And so he suggested her and then they asked her and she was on board. The story is they had flown back together from just for laughs festival. And they were seated next to each other. And they've never really met before then. But they hit it off on the plane ride. It was a great report. And it's as someone he'd always wanted to work with. And then she was in the Netflix world, which is where this all came from. So they were like, oh, okay, yeah, that would be great. I wonder if she would do it. And then they talk to him to the top. So they didn't know each other that well, now they know each other very well. But that's the origin story is kind of a meet cute from an airplane ride. I'm surprised at the I guess I'm not surprised at but it is interesting how often comedians, road comics are bumping into each other in airports. Oh, it's insane. It's insane. And so we do the show. And we have usually comedian or two a day. And I would say unless they're close personal friends, which is not often the case. The last time they saw each other their stories always starts. Oh, we were in the lounge at Oh, remember we were we both flew through Chicago on the way back. It's like that is how they know each like some communities only know each other from airports. They're never even done comedy. Well. And once you get to a certain level, right? You're not typically on the road on shows together. Right? Right. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Except for like the Comedy Store in LA. Or the seller in New York, where that's the other, you know, common thing like, oh, because they just do the lineups. But yeah, they're unfortunate talks about that all the time. Because early on, you are partnering with so many people, and then you're like, well, it's her rise, and stand up. It was like, very fast. And so when you haven't had to like grind it out, as long as she realized she was like, cuz she went from I don't know if it was doing the last Comic Standing or whatever. But she just went to headlining pretty quickly. And she's like, I didn't even open for people. So we've had those those conversations that were like, oh, man, those disaster opener stories. And you're like, so like, open for Jo Koy in LA. And you know, we'll do some fun spots like that. But she never really went through the opener. system. We could simplify our booking process. Apparently, if we would just record this in an airport. Like I was just thinking like, why don't why isn't the Delta crown room greatest comedy club in the world? Right? Like they really should be if all the comics are always meeting each other in the airports. Like Delta needs to really jump on that. I wonder if that's true for other professions industries. Yeah, if there's people where they're like they Grew up selling phone systems together. And then they Yeah, I think sales guys in general like big national accounts sales guys are always, you know, meeting up in the airport or saw each other in the airport or Yeah, I feel like that's we're sort of hinting at the premise of that Clooney movie. Yeah. up in the air. Yeah, yeah. Great more the Tom Hanks movie where you live in the airport? Terminal Terminal. Yeah. So you guys could cut that route. I'll move into an airport. Why don't we do a game where it's like name that tune, but it's movies with one plot element who and or you could bid like name name that tune. You could say I'll take two plot elements or and then you can then I can name that movie in one plot element. Right? Yeah. Just gets reduced until you finally and not I could name a game I don't want to play. Oh. I liked it. So enough about other people. Let's we got Joe here. So we're just talking about Joe Joe does a show he works. Right? I love talking about other people. Our prep on the show. We said okay, the purpose of the show, Tom Papa and fortune painter and Greg Ferguson do not exist. Oh, they know he did say Oh, wow. Yes. Who said that? When was that? You guys weren't here yet. Oh, I honestly, I'm starting to what happens when you show up late. I was talking to my son. I wouldn't be here if those guys didn't exist and I'm gonna have very little to say. So I'm glad you I'm glad you're here. I'm glad you're with us. You've like zoom meeting, a breakout room. In a separate interview with our guest respectfully Bendel. Here we go look at fighting back. This is great. Ladies and gentlemen. Let's get ready to run. We've got a guest that we need to talk to though. So anyhow, it's getting so tell me when you're doing your podcast How much did Adam just cost us in licensing fees by saying that? Best regards Best regards Jamie Hernan what your spare parts are just complained about our attitudes. But we got here. And next thing you know, you're Johnny cranky over there. Johnny crank. Alright, so Joe. So it's been a year of no comedy. And yet, it seems like essentially podcasts, the serious shows are kind of the only places where comedians have been able to find an outlet creatively to try to have something to say, what's your experience been with all that? You're fascinated because you have people that were all over the, the spectrum in terms of whether they thought podcasting was even like a valid art form. I hate to use that term. But you know, for lack of a better term in comedy. And then like, when I think about it, specifically being a pandemic podcast would be naper godsey. And he also has his new special, which is fantastic, which is a very great pandemic banner special. And he started at the just because he never wanted to do it. We've talked to him about it. And he was like, you know, this, this just seems like the time I'm itching to do something. So he did it. And if he loves it now, and it just makes sense, because I think if you take the pandemic out of it, like if you like talking as part of your comedy, like in your very good conversationally funny like he is, it's just, it just makes sense for people. And for stand up. all you hear is about how it helps ticket sales, because it gives something to their loyal fans. And they can promote their dates, and it's great. So I think it's great to do it in the pandemic. But I also think that like people who use the pandemic, do it should have been doing it all along and will continue to do it going forward. That makes sense. It does. And it's I think it's you start to see who is similar offstage to their material onstage. And then we're the people where it's really actually very different. Right. And I mean, that's one of my most fascinating experiences in working in comedy fans honestly, think about it, fans always assume that the person that they see on stage or on their, their TV is is the same, it, it can be so dramatically different from person to person. And some people are much better at scripted funny. And then some people are much better at conversationally funny. And then there's of course, the overlap that people that are good at both. And you don't even know in the business working in there. Like if I get, you know, assigned to work with talent, I have this preconceived idea of how funny they are. And then what which way they're funny because of how they've made me laugh. And I would say 5050 like I might I can be wrong as often as I'm right, in terms of what they are like when you sit down and have lunch with them. And it's just it's fascinating because you don't need to be conversationally funny to be a very good comedian. And you can be conversationally funny at not be a good comedian at all because it's different skill sets. So what about you? What about with your What about what the question guys that that's been around for about a year was that pandemic inspired Well, Funny enough, it was not. So I had the idea in December of, I guess what's that 2019 I, Cornell and I were talking, we were actually working on jokes, we started doing this thing, where we would call each other and just just discussed jokes, he, he'd go over jokes he'd written, I'd go over jokes, I'd really like performance, and then we'd pitch on them. And it's just like something fun to do to keep a comedy muscle going. And we enjoyed it so much. I was like, Hey, man, like, why don't we just do a podcast? I've worked in radio, podcasting. So it's like, just in my world, and I thought it'd be a fun thing to do with him, because I've known him for so long. So we get together, and we start recording episodes in January. And then we got the one episode where it was like, Hey, I don't even know if we're gonna be in the same room after this week, but let's just see what goes on. The world shuts down. At that point, we had like six episodes bank, and he was trying to start something else. And it was one of those things like, when do we release it? And I was like, How about now? He's like, Yeah, that makes sense. So we just put it out. And it just timed with being a pandemic podcast. But it actually was an idea that started before and that was one of the nice things about the pandemic was not having to be in the same room as these two characters, but you're really your feelings are really hurt. Now, you're here. Yeah, yeah. vaccinations are happening all over Georgia. We're getting Yeah, people are getting their vaccinations. It's a good thing. Yeah. Adam actually noticed that cranky Jamie isn't nearly as fun as regular Jamie, you know, honestly, I wouldn't normally I can tell the difference between regular Jamie is like bearable. regular guy. decent guy. Yeah, whatever. Yeah, this passive aggressive, whatever. So listen, I what we may have to do. And Joe, I apologize that Yeah, man, Daddy arguing and I hear it too. I hear what you guys are hearing. Yeah, he's not happy. So we're gonna if Adam and I start talking about the Catholic Church and Catholicism. Just go with us, because we're using it as a way to verbally box out, Jamie. Yeah. No, we're actually The good news is the pandemic will be fine. Once we get the producer booth that we put you back behind the wall. It'll be fine. That'd be great. Yeah, so what Ben was talking about is is talking about religion makes me uncomfortable. So he knows that as soon as he starts talking about religion that I know that we shut it down. Actually, with this podcast in January of 2020, before the pandemic exploded, Adam came in here one day, well, he's always coughing, but he was really coughing up a storm. And the next day, Ben and I were both deathly ill. Yeah. And you come back here from Portland, right. Or, or I know, I went to Portland after that. But yeah, okay. Well, we were convinced that Adam had zero. Yeah. Yeah. Not so much, though. I don't know I'm getting the vaccine tomorrow. I never got it. Maybe it's because I had immunity. Maybe it's because, yeah, we took the opposite approach we had, we had four people that we used to do the podcast with, and that sort of was got wobbly. And then the pandemic hit, and we stopped doing anything at all for a year. Yeah, these guys fired it up with a pandemic. We shut it down. Yeah. I mean, we have smart nology to do it. We had the technology. It was like Steve Austin, you know, the million dollar, we could do this. We have the technology. Yeah, we didn't use it. We were like the opposite. We're like the show. The technology. Let's let him die. I have a I have a question for you. unrelated to anything we've discussed so far. In the in the event of the Apocalypse, what is your survival skill? What are you bringing to the bunker? Okay, great. This is a really good question. I've thought about this a lot. And I'm not thrilled with my answer. Because my answer is, it's pretty much absolutely nothing. Oh, I have no skills. Like, I couldn't kill anything like an animal for eating. I can't build anything. So I don't have like any of the kind of handyman stuff. But I will say, I'm fun to be around. And I'm pretty, like agreeable and also good at mediating. So I can like middle like, if you have issues with someone else in our like bunker, apocalypse bunker? I would be a great extra person to have in there because I would find a way you know, like to work things out. And you know, maybe to get some like fun things we can do. While we're killing time. But if you just want like survival stuff. I'm not sure. Joe, you and I go and I are dying early in the apoc. Yes, I got news for you, Joe. You're not dying early. It's your skill set. We've determined in preview so much like the question guys. We have similar bar kind of questions, right? Like, yeah, well, how are we going to survive in the apocalypse and what would you do? And one of the findings that we've had off air with this discussion is that charming is maybe one of the most key skills in the post apocalyptic world I take back the ability Yeah, actually get along with people is probably even more important than hunting or being a you know a really tough guy or having the guns or if you're charming you don't have to have the guns you can become friends with the guy who has the guns and or already has the food. Yeah. So I think honestly your skill set, you're selling yourself dramatically short. I think you survive. You actually maybe rule the post apocalyptic world Cornell and I had this discussion at one point and we like here's our example that I think is really important here. Do you want to take Bruce Springsteen into your bunker with you? Now super talented, you love his music? But little want him around all the time? Too much? It's a little much. It'd be great if we had an x if we said like, oh, bring an entertainer. Maybe he makes the list that's just like that. But do you want to have to figure out how to like wire something to get electricity working with him? No, you don't? I think that's right. We've had discussions on prior episodes about the guy who brings a guitar to the party but the guy who brings the acoustic guitar to the apocalypse really has got to go early. I'm assuming the guy that brings the guitar to the party is also the guy that brings the guitar to the apocalypse bumper bunker are you talking guitar guitar? Sure can air guitar air guitar is fine yeah, I mean if you're bringing bringing air guitar Yeah, everyone should bring their air guitar to the bunker right when does bring their guitar to the bunker. Whether you intend to bring it or not. I don't think that's true. Some people will leave their guitars at home. I have a whole like the I have the collection at home. I don't know if I'll have time to grab and if you're racing out if it's like truly Apocalypse, you you know you may upset I don't even know which guitar I'm going to take Am I gonna take the electric or am I gonna take the acoustic I am? have always the electric and air guitar studio. You also can make new air guitars in the bunker. That could be a fun activity like it's a craft like that. Yeah, maybe maybe say well, we are only allowing people in here who have a specific skill set. And you could say I am a master air guitar craftsman. What do you think will be the currency in the apocalypse? Like so now? Like the government's have all failed? Bitcoin not to set it up? What do you think? Is that what do you think? The Apocalypse? Yeah. What do you think is the currency in the apocalypse? Can I just add what do you think is the currency and the apocalypse? You may not? Yeah, just one more time. What was the question on the floor for you to answer is, yeah, the apocalypse has occurred. We need your currency. What will that currency be best regards What what? Best? Best regards? I'm still in my head. We need to talk about that at some point, too. Because I've always put a lot of thought into how I end mills and like best regard is I know your guys standard. podcast like system. I don't know if you guys have like an official memo on how to nd No, we just learned it this evening. We kind of along with you were Yeah, we learned about the best for cars just now. Yeah. And there's gonna be some discussions afterwards. So I want to workshop some other alternatives. Yeah, yeah, we're gonna brainstorm session. Because clearly, well, nevermind. Anyway, question on the floor. pocalypse has occurred. What is the currency? Okay, so I think that food is without a doubt going to become the currency. Because the more the older I get, the more I'm around just normal people, people I love seeing how a good person can behave when hungry is shocking. Like I'm talking like my mother, my girlfriend, they could become monsters. And these are some of the most lovely people I know. So I think that what no matter what, what causes the apocalypse, whatever, everyone's thinking about how they're going to eat their next meal. So we're exchanging things because Cornell and I had this discussion because Tom Papa is a bread Baker. And it's, it's proved to be a very valuable skill in the pandemic. He's brought over bread, fresh loaves to me multiple times. And you're like, Oh, my God, he he would be a billionaire. Right. He's the bill gates of the apocalypse that he can still deliver that sourdough. two things. First of all, Adam just asked me if I was hungry with Snickers you get your Snickers because I've seen what people do when they get hunger. Yeah. Secondly, have you seen him actually bake the bread though? Because he could just be a bread purchaser rewrap. Oh, no, he does. Some pretty big accusations right now, buddy. I said your ear you're using the Tom Papa is actually you're saying I am saying that Tom Papa does not make his own bread. You're calling Tom papa. A phony loafer. Yes. And first of all, we first of all, we said that Tom papa. You were worried about me licensing. Licensing something earlier. You throw some blasphemy on talent, another man's bread baking to the point that he's gonna he's gonna buy We'll analyze his own abilities by covering up for sourdough, buddy, I am. I did actually hear that which makes me a little nervous. However, I will outbreak Tom papa. And I've never baked a loaf of bread in my life. I don't think Wow, you guys are throwing up your I will say and this is just a warning that this could turn the podcast into a fake news to a non direction just because New York Times has reported on top of bread baking. So now we're now we're going now we might have to go after the New York Times, though again, spirits say yeah, I've never been in the room with the guy as he's based alone. But I just think I've been very close. I'm trying to think how close I've been. I've been in his house, but I never saw a loaf come out of the oven in person. Hey, Joe, you just stay in the living room. Don't worry about it. I got it. Did you see how the votes in Georgia were counted? Did you actually see them counted? Is that what you're talking about? Now? JAMIE? I feel like you've flipped my political. Yes, you are crazy. You sound like a crazy man right now. popping up making his own bread. What has become of you this grouchy gave him a Snickers bar, please. I would say this was the like literally, perhaps the dumbest thing that you've launched on this show since a sliced loaf of Tom poppers bread. Oh, wow. Very, very well done. Okay. So, um, one problem I have with the currency of bread and food in general is the spoilage right? So it I think if you're gonna I think I need to move something around from person to person. And so I think so I need something with I think food may not be the wrong answer, but I think it is. I need something that has a shelf life Starburst. I think Starburst is there. I mean, I think honestly, like you You said some crazy stuff tonight. But Starburst I think you are right on. Because it gives you denominations with colors already, say print, they're pre wrapped individually wrapped. And they're gonna last few forever. So then the follow up question to to Joe is if Starburst is the currency, which of the colors is the most valuable? Clearly cherry? Joe? Yeah. 100%. Anyone said what if you would I don't even know what fruit is yellow. Is that banana? But what? Who cares? I don't know. But it's like you don't need it. Yeah, that's that's. That's a penny of best. Yeah, a penny will do you you couldn't even probably get a corner crust of a Papa loaf with one of your measly yellow Starburst, assuming it does make bread that would take like 10 cherries. Yeah. So if you drop a yellow one, you just let it you don't even bother picking that up. You just keep keep going. Well, no, it's the apocalypse. You need to keep I mean, come on, man. It's, it's it's the apocalypse. Yeah. Right. I mean, that's like letting stuff go in the depression. If you're running from whatever the source of the apocalypse is. Maybe you leave your yellows behind. Yeah. But assuming you're using charm as a survival skill. You say, guys, silly me. Before I mediate your dispute over weapons. Let me pick up my yellow currency. Yeah. Excellent. How do I come back from Joe Lee McEwen on Oh, I think you can? Honestly Yeah. We're all worried about we're all worried about you. We're here to help. That was a sour. Really good. The good stuff. Alright, so we have a question that we ask all of our guests every episode. And it's a pretty simple and straightforward one. Anybody who has traveled at all for comedy has had the experience. And it's pretty basic setup. It's based on the concept of a meet in three restaurant. Gotcha. Do you know what that is? I do know. But just from your podcast. I did not know. Well done, sir. Well done. Yeah, cuz. Okay. Yeah. The great thing about that is that none of our guests ever know what it is, which clearly tells us that none of our guests ever have listened to. And I appreciate is that not only have we, we've now determined a way to vet guests who've previously listened to our podcast. And we have we we've invented a term now that is entering into the lexicon. Meet and three in a real thing. Maybe it was an actual, very real thing. Yeah. Can I get a little bit of like, I can use it in a sense, kind of for me, because I know what it is from the podcast, but um, so take me through like your day to day like, what how do you go into the restaurant and they're like, hey, Danny meat three for you. Like like that? No, no, it would be it was. We're gonna go get some lunch. We're gonna go to lunch. Let's go to claudins Yeah. Do you want to go to Taco Bell? Are you Want to go to Claudine what kind of restaurant is Claudine? You go into Claudine you go, you get a tray, which I mean three. It's amazing three. Okay, I can do it. I can do that tray. So you get broccoli and then you get like a country fried steak fried chicken and chicken tenders. You lost your mind you didn't meet and three. Yeah. Now, the second question when you? Yeah, yeah. Wait, you guys know what I mean? Three is now I'm turning it on you. Yeah, exactly. I, I am starting to understand why some guest is going to buy us all gift certificates to take intro to improv. Because some of us, I won't say who needs to learn the Yes, in principle instead of the No, but Oh, are you having an issue? Well, I feel like we're having a nobody. It's been a little nobody. It's been a little nobody. And by nobody, I mean, nobody. Now here's my theory on the yes and no, but is I feel like it's hard to teach. I think you went to I've done improv classes. And you've got in there and you like within the first round of doing the first exercise you can spot the yes and and and the no but it's a way of what I know people from improv go that direction and try to like, impress you. I think you know, improv really is a way of like, but if you go the other direction what you bring into improv is it's very clear and if you're a no but are and I'm sorry that we seem to have one amongst us is your there's maybe no turning back. You can go I can't be cured. You're saying it can be cured. I'm saying he's trying to stay over there. What I'm suggesting is you have the yes answer talking Can you just shut I thought Joe and I had like we were developing a friendship and I that's why I got he got Best regards and he challenged the man's gift bread. You really did that was off. You could have said Tom Papa's sourdough bread must be delicious. Yes. And instead you said, I don't think he actually bakes bread. Well, hold on one second. Let me just say this, Tom, Papa sourdough bread must be delicious. You can't do that. Now. I can't guess I do the editing so easy. You'll never now You sound like that woman who said no one could possibly have thought that the votes were manipulated. Listen, there are certain things that have very limited return on investment. Making deep fake versions of this podcast is like the yellow starbursts of, of kind. Yeah, that's probably true. It's a lot of work for not a lot of it. Yeah. Just embrace the fact that you hate Tom Papa's bread. Or Yeah, if you if you think he makes I can't hate What does not exist cheese. Here we go. Here we go. Okay, step one. So let's I want to say Hi, there. Okay, I let's go back to making three. And so he's trying to jump in on this Tom popper bread. Oh, yeah, that's good. I just want to say it for you. For everyone say, I just know this from my own podcast, I might be trying to add some conflict to yours. Because one day Cornell brought note to one of our episodes, it was early on, and he was like, I've noticed some things. He started reading off all of his complaints about what we did. And I probably didn't sleep for a week. Like I was like, I just, I questioned my wife my existence to the point that little vocal tics I have, you know, when you listen back to yourself, or boy, do you say that a lot? What's wrong with me? So I know what it feels like. And I just think it's fun to kind of share the love. It's every podcast needs to have that constant existential crisis of like, what is my work? Yeah. Could you imagine a host accusing us of maybe being too mean to him? Could you imagine a host accusing us of nose whistling? Could you imagine? Yeah, I do. Have coughing too much during the, the podcast. So Joe, though, my question is, if Cornell came to you, before every episode of the podcast with notes, would you eventually start to take that personally? Oh, yeah. Yeah, I think you get we get one episode. And then you need a month off. I mean, we're still recovering from that one. And it like comes up, like every few weeks where it's just like, oh, remember when you said that? Yeah, I still haven't fully recovered. I mean, it got to a point where it's like, I've listened back to my voice and try to learn how to speak again. Like it can get it can get deep. Yeah. Yeah, I want to I want to I want to take that pain away from you. So if you would have Cornell listen to this episode. And then send me some excoriating criticism. Yeah, some notes would be great. Yeah, I would. Oh, yeah. I would love that. I So Joe, I'm not gonna I'm not. I would never be so bold as to tell you how to maintain your relationship with Cornell but but I would say You might encourage Cornell just to simply send an email back to Jamie that says Jamie, you know what you did? Best regards Oh, respectfully would work better. So um, I mean, three, mean three is on the table. Yeah, let's talk we haven't so we've gone to quality and you've walked in and I say and I say mean three and usually the next question if it's brought up in conversation is do they have a good mac and cheese? Because at any meeting three you're gonna want a good mac and cheese and some something else? So you can't have a meeting three without mac and cheese? No, that's right. And so that's the next question is is how you judge meat and three really is? Is their mac and cheese. Good. Wow. Okay, so the one of the threes got to also be good. Forget the meat or you get the meat out and then one of my fried chicken Yeah. Yeah, it's a it's a pulled you know, a lot of times hold corps or pork gets some roasted chicken into meatloaf. Yeah. comfort food. Orient. Yeah. Yeah. But But then one like guilt vegetable at the end, too, right? Like the number three should be one was like, No, I know. I should have cauliflower. I think a lot of times sometimes people maybe try to get around that if they've got like a little mini corn on the cob kind of thing. Yeah, the corn on the cob is is a fake guilt vegetable, right? It's drowned in butter. It's drowned in butter, right where the cream spin, which is also an incredibly bad guilt vegetable. Brunswick stew is the go to, I think generally, anytime your vegetable is limp. it's indicative of the fact that shouldn't count lost all of its nutrients. That's right. Okay, so the question. Alright, so in that scenario, you're familiar with the concept in your life? What is the meat? What's the organizing principle around which you orient all things? For me, it would be focusing on the craft. I think that every project that's approaching the people I've worked with, like, the big takeaway I've always gotten and tried to implement is like, you can get so distracted with all the other stuff that come along with what you're doing. And but if you focus on the core of what it is, and the craft on how to make that good, you'll be one working on the right thing. And two, you'll stay sane, which is a huge element of it. Excellent. Working on your craft as a great working on the craft. Okay, and now your three what are the three attributes that you would like people to most closely associate with you? Okay, I would go with I think, honestly, would be my mac and cheese. And then who? Focus. I like that. And, oh, my third one. So this is my soggy vegetable. joyful. joyful. Yeah. those are those are great. How would it How does that compare to any everyone else's dancing? more prepared? Yeah. Yeah, I mean, we it's your meat was incredible. That's that was the first time and I don't think I don't think we were on the ground. compare their attributes to you know, which was their mac and cheese of attribute. Yeah. Which I appreciate. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of lining it up. You're saying listening to your podcast hurt me when it came to this? No, no, actually, it was great. Yeah, it was prepared, but good. Yeah. I like how the phrase soggy vegetable brought me down emotionally. But then you said joyful which probably back up It's beautiful. Yeah. Right. Because it just feels like oh, yeah, I want people to think vegetables for dinner before we came in. No, he said soggy veggies are down before no he said soggy vegetable, which made me just sort of cringe and what's what's this vegetable going to be for him? And then he said joyful, which I thought was great. hurt you. What's going on? Yeah, there's something definitely. You hurt me. You hurt me. There's clearly I don't have to look. No thing up. You're a real attorney, too. So I'm wondering if like, some judge dress you down and did a client against you apparently yells respect. I'm worried about you, man. I'm just worried about you. I love you. Everyone's worried. So um, yeah. All right. lightning round time. Quick, deep questions, short answers. The guest always gets to choose do they go clockwise or counterclockwise? Oh, this is a big I want to pick the right one because I am a runner. And I just tried to run around the Rose Bowl for the first time or no way. Be careful. And there's times they're inside or outside, it's outside. But they there are signs that tell you which way to run. You're supposed to run counterclockwise. But half the people at the Rose Bowl. Don't know that. But if you go on like the app to tell you this is a good place to run everyone's variadic you have to run counterclockwise. But I would say probably more people walking clockwise. Hmm. That's an interesting conundrum. I have been on some like biking trails, where certain days of the week, you're supposed to go clockwise and other days you're supposed to go. That's way too complicated. It's bike collision in the woods all the time. Yeah, that's just stupid, right? Like, let's just decide, are we going clockwise or counterclockwise and stick with it the whole time? See, I just go to like, an a mountain bike setting, which these are mountain bike trails, it's a different course depending on which direction you go. Okay, so what was downhill is now an uphill. Okay, but my question for it with the rosebowl, though, is, why are they adamant about the counterclockwise? What's the difference? Like, what? Why do they care? I don't know. And from what I can tell, there was no penalty for doing it, which is what I did it out of fear. Right. And I think you go clockwise, because one you already throwing counter in. So you're like, Okay, that's, we're going against something. So let's go clockwise. Also, you're going to be running. If you're going clockwise, you're running with traffic, you're going the same way as traffic. So they're telling me to go counterclockwise? I'm staring at cars that are driving down the street coming straight out. I'm not good. I think we should have some of the football players from one of the teams that plays there that just come out. blindside tackle you if you're going clockwise. Oh, I would be into that. Like, Terry linebacker comer. Yeah, so those are great. Yeah. There's no cover sheet on these Gladys. Anyhow, so clockwise or counterclockwise. Where are we? How do we how do we come? I think he came up with clockwise. Yeah, exactly. That's the right. Correct. All right. So clockwise, starting with Jamie. I think. Okay. There you start every time. Which direction? The clockwise counterclockwise thing is very important, though. I agree. Yeah. Because it throws the whole thing off if you choose incorrectly. So well, thank you for thinking correctly. If you can work as anyone's assistant for a year, who would you choose? even called bear? If you could name the street you live on? What would you call it? pickle? If you could commit any crime and get away with it? What would you choose and why? That's a rule follower. This one's tough. I'm going to go with dealing and why dealing? Well, because at least that's one I get to walk away with things with like, and I mean, there's still guilt there but murdered. There's no scenario where I want to commit murder and and, and then you live with that for the rest of your life. feeling. I could be like, Well, you know, I got that Rolex, and I got to wear it for a week before I Well, I guess I'm not getting. I'm not getting arrested. I don't know. I'm getting away with it. tonight. I get to look down on it and go, yeah, look, I did that. Nobody knows what Rolex is. getting away with it, too. Alright, do you have a lucky number? I don't. I don't I mean, I I'm one of those people that like, even numbers. You know, I like better than odd one. But so if I was having had to pick something, I'd go with the even but I don't walk around with a lucky number. Well done because most people fall into the trap and give the number but that's not the question. Do you think that you could be a robot? Wow, that was our last episode of the podcast. And I do think so. I think a lot of people in my life would agree with that. But I couldn't be a robot possible robot. Popular robot. Yeah. Do you ever think your parents gave you the wrong name? No. I don't think that other people disagree. Which mystery or unsolved case? Would you like to know the truth about you know what? I'm gonna go with aliens and Roswell. Welcome to casino. What do you want to play? blackjack? Can we break from the lightning round for a second? Are you a $5 blackjack tables and play all night? Not really worried about when you're losing too much. Are you going high roller? Oh $5 all night. It's about it's about the journey not the destination. I any a large amount of money. Give me anxiety. So I will seek out the cheap table that we can ride as long as possible. Okay, would you rather do one $1,000 I know. I just I said I'm breaking from it. One $1,000 scratch off ticket or $1,001 scratch off tickets$1,000 scratch off ticket. Whoa. Okay, let's go giddy up cowboy. Alright, yeah, question. Is it my turn? Yep. Okay, what's the weirdest Wikipedia rabbit hole you've stumbled down? That is really good. Just going through my recent Wikipedia history, I did look up. I do look up a lot of stuff for this show. But I've looked up neighborhoods because I'm going to be moving soon and so on wikipedia is thinking that you gotta it's gonna be a really well known neighborhood kind of yeah this is a big roller here he's the guy who plays a $5 table but his neighborhoods are in wikipedia yeah well the fun part about that is i want to learn the your history so this would be part of the rabbit hole the rabbit hole would be like you know some random guy that went came up because of looking for gold ended up like finding this town and then built a casino here that burnt down like four times like that kind of stuff that that i like like the i like people use like basically the rabbit hole is those street names that you don't even think twice about because to you they're just a street name but that's actually a person and then learning about what that person did even if it's stupid where do you live i live on no gold bill for bill you live on no gold bill no gold bill drive that's so funny i live like one street over on do you smell smoke oh that's so funny how do you get to your street do you still have to follow the house yes do casinos on the busted casino site i do yeah that's so funny oh this is great this is like a this is an audio play i love it good all right do you have any questions for us yeah all right here's my question how did you guys find me the question guys is a format that we kind of like it's a format that is similar to i mean honestly like it's it's a it's a lot of our discussions kind of feel like a bunch of guys sitting around at a pub talking right and i feel like a lot of the topics in the question guys end up being that same thing you know where my wife whenever i come home from being out with the guys always says so what did you talk about and did dina have a baby and how's you know bobby's cancer and did you know is that kid make the football team and i'm always like i don't know any of that stuff but i do know that you know terry thinks he's a robot right back so i was a fan of the craig ferguson show on on on netflix radio or net no that was on sunday you don't even know i was a fan of the craig ferguson show on sirius and so i was familiar with you from from that show okay yeah the horse costume not the horse costume this is the this is the really serious gotcha gotcha that actually i think was very successful that he just abruptly decided he was done with that yeah yeah no no it's a really isn't it actually was just that it like it was just it was going and it was fun i mean i loved it that was my introduction to audio because i was a tv guy up until that point and we had a blast doing it and then yeah just things changed you know when that's the blessing and the curse working with someone on his level because it's like everything for him can change in a moment a different offer deal whatever and then he just moved on and i was like i love that experience and it was great and then the fact that i'm getting do it again with some fortunate is really cool but what i was going to say what i kept interrupting with and this is the connection to the question guys for if you guys like that format the question guys was actually spawned from we were already doing the podcast under a different name and i casually brought up that i think about all the time where i'd be ranked as a human being in the world like so i was like you know imdb has those those rankings and i was like where would i be like if we had to pick like our top billion people to lever to move to mars or to move the next planet because the earth is about to explode would i be considered one of the top 1 billion people and that like made cornell's head explode and we were so obsessed about talking about that we were like oh that'd be fun to do questions like that every week and it sounds like you guys like having those conversations too i'm the same way i don't know about you know who did what what birthday but i do think about what my world imdb ranking would be like how good of a person i'm am i how important am i in the world i think about that all the time do you guys have an answer to that yeah like i don't even use uber uber because i'm afraid of being ranked by the driver being ranked poorly yeah you prefer not to be ranked not i don't want like the idea of there being a world ranking that i have to every day look at my number and see if it went up or down that's that's horrifying to me but i think i would go the opposite way you're not really competing against most people for most things you're competing against yourself i mean every motivational coach ever told you that that i think is also not true okay thank you you are in conflict but i want to stay on Want to add to that? Your Uber rating could be something you could use as an argument to get on that spaceship to take you off the planet on top of in the top 1 billion, right? You could be like, Look, I got five stars on Uber, and I've taken 200 rides. I'm a good guy, you know, you might want to need them. I grant you, I did not solve any major diseases. I am not that charming. And sometimes people call me every guest. So I got five stars. If this if the cut off is a billion. Yeah, I mean, that's actually an interesting question. Okay. But if it's a billion, yeah, there are going to be a lot of underperforming people in the group that don't get on the ship. Yeah. That do get in the ship. Oh, you think so? I don't think that there's a billion extraordinary people in the world right now. How many people in the world? Yeah, that's obviously more than a billion because we're not taking everybody know what I mean. And it doesn't matter. Right. All you're just trying to be is in the top billion. But I'm trying to figure out what percentile I'm in that I'm going to say. of actually necessary people to repopulate the planet. I'm going to say taking a million is probably generous. But do you consider yourself I'm not saying that you have to do it. I'm saying right now get 999 other million people come in that group? For sure. You think you're in that? 100? Absolutely. Top million or top billion 2 billion. I'm in the top billion. Wow. How could you How could you not get up and go? I'm at least one of the top 1 billion people in the world. I'm not sure I am in the top billion, but I'd like to think that I was in the top. Oh, I think you're definitely not in the top billion. But Jamie has a chance. Like I think he This is why I'm cranky. Oh, no, you're definitely not I think I'm right on the border. But I think Bendel is probably in if having a good radio voice will know Bendel everybody. He's like one of those guys that walks into a bar and everyone somebody comes over and says hi, Jamie. Yeah, but sadly, none of them pulled me aside and go. Just a little FYI. I have been tapped to pilot a billion person ship to Mars. And you might want to be in the parking lot on Tuesday around 10. Yeah. Because Yeah. And don't tell anybody else. But imagine how brutal and so to flesh out your hypothetical there, Joe? Like are you bringing it? Are you allowed to bring stuff with you? Or is all the stuff waiting for you and Mars? Or whatever the point I pictured it as? Yeah, I picked her It is like, Nope, it's whatever, whatever you're doing wherever you are, they just say Jamie, and to go. And your new girl are you called? Do you and your family doesn't come with you? Obviously. I've got a new Mars family, you know, but let's hope are they in the top billion? I mean, I don't know your guy's family. But yeah, I mean, I'd like to think they are if you are. That's tough. I don't know. Now I feel bad about my answer, because I definitely counted myself and I wasn't really thinking about the other people in my family. I mean, it'd be pretty good guys. I have bad news. You have an incredibly charming turns out there is a lot of space between your dad who is in the first billion and you guys this is goodbye. This is gonna be weird. But I'm gonna be off building a new planet. Is it fair because you did not raise them right to be in the top billion that you then get to go off and there's left behind. Thank you, mom. Thank you, mom and dad for raising me. Well, sorry, I couldn't pass on the charming to you girls. But also, you aren't giving your kids a reason, which is nice. Not everyone gets that. So I would give you some credit for that. Like they can at least point to something they said well, my dad left but that's because he was in the top billion and my mom wasn't and I'm not. So you know, he had to go. It's truly a blended family of accomplishment. I mean, it's your collection. I mean, I I have I've won best dad in the world like eight times. Wow. World. Okay. According to the T shirt. Yeah, I'm not sure that T shirts real. Okay, go ahead. Well give it to everybody. rank your family. Go ahead and begin. Oh, don't do that. No, I can't guarantee you race number one. Jamie. We're taking we're taking a one person rocket ship to Mars. I'm probably going to be in it. But is it is it is it that the planet is being destroyed? Because that does influence my answer. Oh, I mean, if Earth Really? If Earth is surviving, but we're just take we're just lopping off the right so think about this. Would you rather be the billionth person? Last one last one making the cut to go to Mars or do you now want to be the new number one on on a billion less people call Him belong together. What's that? Yeah, no, this is our This is the exact thing on when we had the discussion and this is why we get along and we're brothers sister podcast is because we started thinking as well. It's like, wait, maybe we don't want to go because if you take the 1 billion best people, how awesome are we? Well, the earth time left like we're the coolest. We're, we're now we're now. Oh boy, if you're 1 billion in one, oh, that's your the bubble boy, America. That's like owning the world, whatever. A beach house on the second row and a hurricane comes in and takes out that first row. And you're like, oh, beachfront property. Yeah. I mean, you're clearly on court on Lake Como kind of guy. I think I don't want to tip my hand. I may have just become a judge on the voice. Wow. I'm assuming the other three have gone. And the first million I don't know, Ben. No, you're out of the conversation right now. You went on the. By the way, you're still sanitation don't denigrate what the jobs are? No, I'm just saying basically, you're, you're not being the host of the voice. Because people that are probably at least a million of them are better than you. Joe has helped me help clarify a few things. For me. It actually has put me in a good mood. Number one. Oh, thank you, Joe. And honestly, America. Thanks. Yeah, I'm number one. I am probably going to start saying a lot of bad things about Elan musk on social media so that I don't make it on the ship, regardless of what I do. And I'm gonna have to sort of dumbed down my life to make sure but just hit that exact, you know, perfect point where I'm billion in one. Hold on a second. I think the better question is, how many planets have to be populated? A billion at a time? Before you go? You can't have anything? Yeah, we're temple. You're still in the next billion. We're definitely out of the out of the Milky Way. How many times? The reason that you think that there's silence there, but I actually just I was crying. It was a little uncomfortable. It's so and it's okay. I'm not grouchy. Jamie anymore. Okay. Yeah, Joe fix that. We did fix it. And then we brought it right back. Right back with the players for years, I have had a running joke. Whenever done, they come out with like the 40, under 40, or the you know, whatever, and they stop, you know, it's not like 50, you have to get to be like, I'm top 80 of 80. Right? always joke about like, it's such a bummer to be the 53rd most beautiful person in the country. And then you realize, well, that's not really true. Because if they made the second 50 list, I wouldn't be on that one. Right. So that's, that's the joke. Yeah, it's a good joke. Really. I just repurposed it and crushed on with it. Hold on, read back the transcript. No, it's a really, it's a really good point. And I, I never thought about it like that. I mean, I was thinking about survival. I wasn't think about the top 50 Most Beautiful People. But you're right, that that list does it as well. And I hate those lists. Because ya know, who is? Who is on those? Right? If you're number one, you're feeling great about yourself. If you're like, top 50 and you're like 37th Most Beautiful People. What is it? What do you get from that? There's nothing there. It doesn't feel good. No, it helps you. You're probably watching the crown with a strong sense of identification for some of those other people that pop in and out, right? No, I'm 75th in line for the throne wasn't Yeah, tight royalty. I was a I was a two episode on the crowner. Right. If you're 37th at some point, somebody in the room is like, No, they're not that attractive. I mean, they're attractive. But then someone focus more on how lucky you are. Right. Someone in the room was like, look at that knows. I mean, they're still on the list. I mean, yeah, that's no Clooney. Yeah. And you're not you're not full page. profile. No, you're really one of six. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And it's after the continued on page. 37 may just be a name and like a little tiny picture. That would hurt. Yeah. I'd rather be off the list. I would take an honorable mention. Right. In America or in Atlanta, wherever. Yeah. Well, amongst the podcast. I don't need to be on the list. No, you are top 50. I appreciate that. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. All right. So last, quick little thing. How often are you getting up if at all to, you know, be on stage behind a mic telling jokes. Man, this killed it. For me. I just I I can't go back to your earlier question. I switched everything, all comedy output to the podcast because between work and and all that stuff i can't get up at all so i'm just waiting this app okay so do you have a we talked about and if you depending on which episode you listen to you know we sometimes talk about a broken bit right so all comics have a bit that we love we think is fantastic and for whatever reason we just can't get it to click the way we want it to with an audience and so i was asked for what's an example of a broken bit that you might have a good example jamie just had one where it was like a 5050 and something in a second 50 actually that's not a bit i've ever done on stage i wouldn't include that every bit and usually i can't really bet on the written i was cranky now i'm not cranky double cranky look at the fake isn't that great with cranky people accuse others of being cranky i got a big smile on my face right now okay okay anyhow we have a guest yeah broken broken bit okay this goes back a little bit for me but it always bothered me because i thought this was just the premise i felt was so strong it goes back to a one this is scientology that and most of the bit was about how like it's no crazier than any other religion but my favorite thing about scientology was about was this line that i heard tom cruise and one of those videos that was released where he was like if i drive by an accident like on the road i know i'm the only one who can help and i try and so i was like oh that's a perfect premise so i would always try to ask like what does he mean by that and then i would do like an act out kind of walking through like you know and like it's going up to the accidents i don't know i'm a scientologist like no we don't need the paramedics get rid of the paramedics and i always thought like it was so funny and i would get like a few of the lines here or there would get a laugh but it never came together like i wanted it to be like a cohesive nice stand up trunk that i was like oh this is my five minutes on that that word i was going to be based on like as long as it was a sedan and not a large suv for tom cruise short guy oh yeah yeah yeah yeah his mini cooper yeah so that's my that's my broken i like it i like the i can see that i liked the story line enough about scientology we'll see i think it's a bigger deal in california where people really know a lot about scientology oh that's interesting i never talk about ontologies just not i mean people do talk about it right but it's just known as the wacko religion where they electrocute you every once in a while how you know that's so funny like because you used to be like the big comedy theater out here like across from one of the scientology buildings so it's so on top of mind out here that's really interesting to hear because like i didn't want to you know i don't want to lie no religion was not something you're supposed to bring up right because religion is fine you and i were talking about religion yeah i can talk about scientology just does whatever you want to tell us is it makes them shut down we recently talked we talked recently about religion that claim souls after their departed which i found yeah the more surprising but yeah that's that's yeah and i know a lot of my jewish friends are not thrilled about that yeah they don't they don't like it but it's like you don't want to go isolate oh is there a famous mormon that people would know that's a celebrity mormon donnie osman so if it was tom cruise hypothetically in donnie azmin rolling up on a scene yeah bruises like i can save everybody yasmin's like give me 15 minutes and then they're all mine on a second let them all go and then i save them all the injury was if i saw tom cruise coming up and he's like i got donny osmond with whoever i would just be like could someone please get tom cruise away from me i wouldn't know i would take a selfie first but then get away from it and they could do a bit where it's like tom cruise and no i would have been singing i'm a little bit constraining i'm a little bit rock and roll though okay we need a mormon to come along and claim the soul of what came out of your mouth because it is dead deceased i would let tom cruise if i was at an accident scene and tom cruise said when he got broken like i can take a look at this and be like yeah sure go ahead check it out if i had done something i needed to like escape a foreign country i let tom cruise help me i'm not interested in him helping me when i've been crushed in a car due to a car accident okay yeah i mean what what would tiger woods have thought if tom cruise was the first one the shop he probably would take called proper help you know like we need we need someone right right but in the meantime i'd at least find it a little bit of a distraction of tom cruise or whomever trying to do mission impossible while we wait yeah right like let me sit you up to a cleansing machine you'll be fine guy don't worry about doesn't matter he's played enough characters over time right that he could snap into whatever role that was never never played a doctor is that all the time but you could do all that it's like everyone loves doing the rain man impression they can do that you could ask that say hey we can pretend to be rain man would you be his brother oh definitely definitely broken they feel everyone's got that yeah definitely broken he's not you're saying you're saying you're telling me that you think tom cruise has never played a doctor i challenge you before don't pick up your phone and tell me a movie that tom cruise has played i'm not i'm just saying he's been in enough movies that surely i don't think he's ever joe do you think tom cruise has ever been an actor a doctor doctor i've been an actor he's a i got it i would go with yes i feel like you've been enough movies it's been a it's been a doctor i mean what was he in below sky maybe i've just i don't remember that maybe there's no it was mysterious boom eyes wide shut oh no are you sure yeah i think i might have been an artist absolutely no not an architect he was a doctor doctor wow sounds right okay feels right feels right hi i'm not essential for the plot of the movie i would say i can't tell you why yeah yeah he was a doctor yeah and that movie well done jamie good job though i can name that plotline in one clue and if there's one thing i guess from eyes wide shut is that guy is who i want to take care of me in a car accident well he would definitely be discreet you are not gonna have to report this to your insurance we are i will take care of this let me put this mask on it's gonna go on your driving records yeah we're gonna keep this just between us all right so do we have anything else that we need to discuss here do we feel like vastest questions we mean three three i think we've brought it all we've done it all so joe where would people find you or where do you want people to find you online social media so joe bolter calm is my website and i'm joe bolter guide on twitter and instagram it's nice joe's imdb page is actually great because there's a video on there of an interview with archbishop desmond tutu life advice that will change it'll change your life episcopalian not catholic so we can talk about it not not catholic okay i had a friend who went up on there and i don't know if it's still there but when we work together he was like oh ticker mdb and he'd put there's i think there's like a fun fact or get to know or something and it was like joe drive the prius and and and we and i was like that is the best like funniest prank because we can't even do that he's like i see i had to like email and like verify that i worked with you as like go back and forth with the imdb people for weeks just to get that one sentence written on your imdb page and i loved it thank you joe it's been a it's been a pleasure having you yes she are headed back out into the field it's the sun is setting the lord the fires burning out it's gonna be a good one awesome thanks guys you guys are great and i really appreciate you having me on it's been great thanks joe thanks joe i think that's okay all right that is joe bolter that was fun great guy i feel bad that we had a fight through jamie's crankiness yeah i was like honestly in front of the company and we can't do this in front of the company like it's one thing when it's just us in the house but it's just us with the sheep but we had a guest here you can behave yourself joe was a great guest no don't ya don't talk about joe let's talk about you where's where's it going let's let's joe is a good guest yeah joe is good we appreciate him coming on the show you know i'm never gonna get a complimentary loaf of tom papa sourdough bread not anymore we're not i feel like one's gonna show up but it's gonna be it's only two thirds probably get some no it's not showing up even ruined tom papa will have to invite us into his kitchen not his living room his kitchen to see i think yeah he doesn't have anything to prove to us he's angry he's clearly in the top billion queue and on pizzas outside that's true right he's taking his bread to mars oh yeah he's definitely behind in a papa sourdough bread funniest person after the billion though and i would assume that there are plenty of money left in the yeah after a billion okay best people on the planet okay i would actually say that because anything that is subjective there will be extraordinary examples left behind The plus billion people so figure skating for example, subjective. I don't think there's any figure skaters in the top billion. Absolutely. They're figures. Oh, are you kidding me? No, there's definitely figure skaters. I'm talking about who you met Michelle Kwan. Like she is a national writer who needs a figure skater on Mars. It's a planet made of ice. Yeah, dude, what are you really? Apart from the sun? Yo, yeah. Players and figure skater Yeah, they're gonna be the leaders. It's it's definitely the winners. Are you talking about? Yeah, they're at the front of the right seat. Carl Lewis has less of a chance of being on it benefit your skater is okay, so so so if you think about it in those terms, yeah. Is there a time period in which because of your achievements, you would have been in the billion but then you drop out because your skills have become aged? Like like oj No. No. on dramatically fell out saying some skills have aged Yeah, right. The best jouster so McEnroe, for example? Not No, I think he's saying that that someone who's a US citizen no longer so. So take a McEnroe. Right? Clearly if you're if you're arbitrarily picking the top billion people on the planet, yes. There will be tennis players. Yes. It wouldn't be McEnroe though. But it could be a lot of people. I don't think it will be. It'll be the tennis players now, but you need tennis coaches as well. But current players could be coaches. Yeah, they can be coaches do. Yeah. Do you think that having a family sourdough recipe and you're now we're talking helpful content? Do you think having a family sourdough recipe helps get you in that top billion? No. I'm so worried about unless you're a Fleishman or a wonder. Maybe a sunbeam but they're probably not taking three breadmakers. Are you listening to Enya at night? Yeah, those gone on and crying to sleep again. The Pepperidge is they're probably going oh the farm. Not the farm can't go but they would take a Pepperidge. Oh, the people at the farm. That's why they call them peppers. I don't think there are actual peppers there. I think it's called separate family. No, it's like the White House. It's not it's not Pepperidge Farm. It is the Pepperidge is no firm. It's definitely a Mr. or Mrs. Pepperidge. Yeah, it's definitely not there are Pepperidge kids. Yeah. I went to school with two peppers, but you did not know. But you had to make it to Yeah, yeah. But beverages. Now there's there are packages. I mean, there's there's there's peppers, but they have nothing to do with the cook. There wouldn't be a place called Pepperidge Farm. Yeah, they're out of Pepperidge. That's no, because it would be like you think there's a Knott's Berry family? Yeah, no, their name is not Knott's Berry. There's not and Berry. They merged. No. It's just their berries. Just the Knott's Berry Farm nuts. So it's so it's a made up word. No, it's not a made up word. It's named after the berries of the not tree. No, the knots were the was the town, Knott's Berry Farm so the town was named after a family. Okay, but they didn't have anything to do with the jam. Yeah, they did. Because it was their town. Okay. That seems like a stretch. It's Knott's Berry. So am I putting out awesome rap music because I live in Atlanta. No. What were the names of the pepper jizz that you you know, George George? George Pepperidge, Emily Pepperidge. Peter Pepperidge. Did he pick he didn't. Okay. No, he wasn't that guy. Yeah, but there's so I'm telling you there were peppers. Okay. There were absolutely just like 10 other wonders now they're just rich, spoiled green. But you know that somebody from all the big red families is going there's going to be the Thomases they get to go right one of them clearly. The English mother. This is like a Noah's Ark thing you get to a beach read families they get to send to me, but I'm assuming in the top billion people they're gonna say you're talking about a family recipe as it relates to bread No, there's no Thomas's there's no Thomas's you don't think the Thomases are gonna go? I don't think they're real people. They're gonna think it's a branding name because they're British. There's no Thomas's Oh, they're absolutely where Thomas says you hit the brick wall. I'm saying there are Thomas's but it had nothing to do with English muffin just like Knott's Berry Farm had nothing to do jam just like the pepper just had nothing to do with a cookie. You chopped down a conspiracy rabbit hole. Okay, cuz you have sad news for you that all of the famous branded names are typically originated with a person. I don't think it matters who was Q and on during the episode? You are ending this episode Q and on. Okay, not sure. Do you have? Do you have a hard and fast rule that we never uttered those words? Actually, on the pocket? I'll bleep it out. Don't worry. I think that's a good idea. Yeah, I'm cheap. Get out of here. Go. Alright, it's good episode. Check it out. You brought everybody down. Don't take it out on the cheap. No. We love you. We love you. brought everybody down. Sorry got Adam. Yeah, look at them. They're upset. You've upset the sheep. you happy now?
