People around here trust the shippers. Jamie and the other Jamie. They always say the sheep trust him to gather around. I'll throw another log on the fire. Turn it up just a touch on another episode of the podcast is starting now. It is a brand new episode of the vodcast Jamie bendele Jamie, Hernan Adam won't even do it bring it make it just good to bring it to me. Hey. Take that buddy tried to edit that out. Yeah, go ahead, listeners go listen to the last podcast see what he did to my intro Challenge accepted. It is a brand new episode of the podcast Jamie. Jamie Hernan Adam. I'm sorry, guest this evening is a longtime friend of mine comedian. We're going to talk definitely about some of the work you have done internationally. Radio Show personality, we're going to talk about that as well. Brand new empty nester, also a newlywed how those things came to be in the same time period. Well, thank God for having me. I'm excited. So a lot of people, you know, COVID suck for a bunch of frogman, but 2020 was actually a really, really good year for me, I got to gaze at that very, I got a raise. I moved, I got two grandkids, like just blesses our blessings on blessings. So Life is good, man. Thank y'all for having me on. Alright, so let's go. Let's go back to COVID engagement. Did you think did the pandemic change your thinking about engagement? Move up the schedule? And were you socially distance? Stop, stop, stop, go one question at a time. All right. Did the pandemic impact syntax or thinking about the relationship? No, no, no, I, August of last year made two years and I definitely knew I wanted to bury it before the end of the year, I just didn't know when so I propose in November in Hawaii, or Thanksgiving, give us a light door. So I got a son that live in Hawaii, him and his wife is in the military. They were having my first grandson with my last name. And I told her I was like, let's go see. And and we didn't I didn't have a grandfather and grandfather that we use out. But the whole time I was, you know, basically ready to propose though. So we got married on the 30 of the day before the end of the year. But I think COVID made me appreciate her more. I think COVID made me really buckled down and know what was more important for my life. And it was really my relationship in my piece. I love that. I love that. That's about I mean, and I love how you already talked to us about COVID and how it's impacted you and it's focusing on the gratitude, right? I mean, like, let's face it, lots of bad things were happening all around you. But you made you became a grandfather and you found a woman you wanted to marry and you got married all in that year that everyone else was focusing on how terrible it is. I love that. Mr. bendele battle. Can I ask a question, sir? Oh, yeah, don't load up on the questions. One question at a time. Alright, I have a three part question. I was gonna ask if you were socially distanced when you got engaged, like how does engagement happen in COVID times, but I yeah, that's good. That's let me answer that first one. We were practicing social distance before it COVID because he was in a long distance relationship. He lived in Louisville, Kentucky, I lived in Dallas. So we was more than six feet for show. Yeah, Fauci would approve. I will say that for a significant portion of the pandemic, I was spousal distancing? Oh, by because of the pandemic or it just felt like it was what we were supposed to be doing. was the right time. Yeah. I actually started Grif, you'll appreciate this. I started working on a new so supposedly, the pandemic has actually been very lucrative for people who practice family law and a lot of marriages have broken up, right, as a result, right. And I think that's because it has been a simulation for eternity. And people are like, Oh, if I can't, is there is there a portion? I don't know what the afterlife where I can have a room to myself. I don't know. What is this gonna be? Is this kind of what it's like? Good because if it's this, I should probably choose different route. Yeah, I need to find an exit. Hey, if this was the end of the world, I didn't want to die alone, either. So did you did you have any say so in the picking of your grandparent name? No, no, no, I just want to be a grandfather. I never had one I heard all the stories about how cool grandpa's were. And my grandpa couldn't be present and my grandpa taught me how to drive. I just want to be a grandpa. He doesn't want to risk getting a bad nickname and ruining his grandpa experience. So he just wants to be grandpa. Well, you're gonna then leave it up to the whoever is the first speaking grandchild really sets the name like that. That seems like he inherited the naming rights for grandpa. He was the first speaking grandchild. It's like the firstborn gets the kingdom in the in the Royal hierarchy. He gets the firstborn gets to name the first one grandchild, that's where you wind up. I think you leave a lot to right granted, it's that it's the my dad. Oh, man, his grandparents nickname is pamper. Oh, because he am pa pa MPa because my daughter who is the oldest grandchild couldn't muster up a GNR. Right. So does your daughter who gave him that name? Does he resent her? No, but all five now grandchildren call? Oh, okay. So that's an argument for? Yeah. Does she always get like one less gift than they are? No, no, no, she's in she's, you know, do you feel like you then have embraced the idea that you now get to say whatever you want to say about whatever you want to say, what's the age for that? Because I've I've kind of been saying what I want to say Jesus, like so that was a fifth grade. That's what I mean. There we go. Yeah. Fifth grade status. Yeah. But that's but so now at this point, like is has Have you experienced like you were you are very vocal. I guess. Maybe that's a word. That denies that they're politically correct. No, no, no, no, what I'm saying from the standpoint of you have never shied away from right, expressing how much you love your kids. Right, right. No, no, no, no, I love them their life. Yeah. So have you had to have a different experience kind of giving them some latitude in their parenting? Um, you know, they don't they don't really ask for it. So these these new kids are different right? My oldest 30 years is the baby that was born in November in my I've got a 28 about Devi. And he has a he has a five year old but he also as a baby in December. So these dudes are they're so frustrated that the baby cries they're like, Nah, man, just cry and I don't understand like, yeah, by Christmas is gonna be walking him running around like no one let him cry. Like it's not, you know, saying I don't know what the day is like they want to, they want to you know, we always been saying it generates you want to keep everything but damn, they want to get the baby part. So like. I don't know what to tell him. Well, it's so weird because you do realize particularly after you've parented for a little while, I've always maintained it's a job. That's only as hard as you make it. Right. Yeah. And I think that sometimes new parents, particularly new parents, with their first child, make the job way harder than it needs to right. Yeah, way harder than insane. That's what we keep telling them like Jamie you, but you tell them about what did you learn her? COVID Jamie, you travel the country. All of COVID-19 all your pictures. Our happy campers, me and my children. We not scary math. No, man. I love it. I was living vicariously through you. Oh, well then it's a mutual vicarious living deal because there's a lot of times I'm like, how come he gets to go to all these? Let's pick it up. Pick it up. When we come back. We're gonna be back with more of the podcast our guest this evening is drift he will be right back. Don't go far. Was there a time in your life when you made mixtapes? In fact, I will tell you that I just found a mixtape that I made for my wife before she was my wife. Whoo. And for some reason on one side where you know the little stickers on the cassettes, cassette and it says like a V. Right, whatever it is. One side has the sort of the the neutron symbol. I can't really describe it. But the other side has the hammer and sickle. Oh, look at you big socialist commie. Yeah, I can't figure out for the livelier war. Maybe it was war and peace. Maybe Yeah. Canada liner notes have the album's and the names did you put liner notes in new cassette? I did. Yeah, it has the song titles but there's no connection to communism in any way. Okay, was there with their notes about the songs in your or is it just the title? Just the title? Okay, well that's a that's a seed minus mixtape. So did you do time marking mixtapes or did you do emotion based mixtapes? Can you say that in a sentence I will say that in a sentence okay so so the origin some people may question so you and at the time a girl who you had perhaps feelings for you got a PCB Panama City Beach for a weekend getaway if I did not have feelings for it would have been really awkward given her mixtape that's what I'm getting at. So do you do the PCB 92 mixtape? Or do you just go? These are all the things I don't know how to say to you on a mixtape. I think it was more of a PCB 92 event based Yes, it was event based so it had nothing to do with emotions. I think it had everything to do with emotions. So is that an emotion? Yeah, it's one or the other. Yeah. Extra PCB, or this is how much I love. Remember, this is a cassette that has worn piece, you know, I think PCV doesn't have more a piece PCB. That sounds emotional. Yeah, I think it was emotional. Sounds like it sounds like it was emotion. Yeah, I'm getting emotional. crying. I'm not crying. You're crying. Alright, back with our guests this evening. Griff. So let's talk a little bit about married life. How are we doing? What's going? Well, as you know, we four and a half months. So I'm like in my second trimester, according to what to expect when expecting where the size of a plum and our love Are you feeling like, you know, have you been wanting to get back on stage and, and refresh and kind of revisit what you talk about on stage in relation to everything that's such a great, so not being able to get on say, doing a lot of zooms Oh, thank God for approachable shows. But doing a lot of zoom shows, and then getting on stage, and I kind of really just add divorce material. But then I'm married now and I and I was like, and it wasn't going over. Like it needs to go over. And I was like, that's because it's not real, no more like I sound tacky, like you know, then it's not my life no more. So I just started talking about, you know, the guilt free sex. That's a great place to start with when you marry the guilt free. So you don't have to go in a mirror. After you sleep with your girlfriend or boyfriend and look in the mirror and collect your pearls and say God did you make do or have you considered going to your new wife and saying you're messing up with my comedy act? I gotta, we gotta you know, this is a struggle here. No, it's the funny part. It seems funny. I do funny. She has her own little. Like, it's weird when you I'm 50 this year. So when you get when, like we not 20 year olds all in love, we people that are both in married, we, we know what we want, we know what we don't want. But it all comes with maturity to at some point, you got to cut the woman's of slack like and I'm just talking about me. So, you know, in the end, my problem is, after all my counseling and everything I was brought up by bipolar people. So my dad was bipolar. My mama was bipolar. I'm a quarter polar at least. So is there a disclaimer that you have to put into your proposal where you basically say, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. But you need to understand you're going to be part of my act. I am a comedian and I will be using anything we do will be used. Here's all here's all the honest truth. He tells me the other day he said, I'm about to tell you something. And it's really, really good. But you can't tell another person I was like, man I don't know. She's like, no, like, you can't go on stage. You can't say Who am I can't repeat. This is what I do for a living. You're like telling the CIA agent you know, you got to tell me where you're going, who you're messing. You're like I can't it's against. It's my career, baby. I love information so much as though she's learned that it's all the act like I'm, I'm I'm just talking about my life. I'm a storyteller. She's a big part of my story right now. You know, Liz, I'm drawn to. It took me a long time to find out what he said. They have about so empathy. He's not he's not close to just walk by and kiss me. You know, saying My father was a great drill instructor I talked to him for 20 years now we talk on phone like LGBTQ no you hang up No, you I don't know you. But But what he says so my wife mom killed us. Like, like, No, she killed him. So one time he was talking crazy, you know, I you Whoo, whatever. Then she shot him eight times. Whoa, that'll keep you in line. That's not genetic. Your mother in law when you know that she's done that live. My mom was a olje for being married tonight. My wife, mother murder to do like, a part time job in eight times. And then one time and after eight times a year later, he was talking crazy again. Here's how you know you in dysfunction. You know, we all want to crack it. We all want to crack it. So So A year later, he talks crazy to this same lady who's choosing eight guys, right? And this time, she shoots him in a place and kills them. Oh, like her mama. So I'm very careful about what I say to her. I don't know all her truth. So she showed me that. Okay, so first before we get to that. I want to know how long was it before you heard that story? First day. Okay, that was such a great and you don't want to notice when you say exactly. She might have told me this story. Jamie. St. Patty's Day. So recently married. So you're already I think that that is a goal. That is a go first story. That should be as early as possible. Right after you say my name is Yeah. Hi. It's great. Oh, this is a lovely restaurant. By the way. Any chance we have in common? Killed the other parent. Yeah, but first. The first time though. My mom shot him eight times. And then he came back from Ward so shout him in the face of finished it. Okay. But so you took the different thing from the story than I took. So admittedly, I assumed one of the first eight shots was fatal once I knew that he was deceased. Yeah, he said, You know, that's what I thought at first. She's a horrible shot. Terrible shot him shouting he was auto I mean, I mean, my wife telling me the story. I'm like, Are you kidding me? I was loving it. It was so Quentin Tarantino. I like shot five or six. He's literally sitting there like really? Okay, so all of my vital bullets in the clip, so you have to reload. Okay, so first of all the comments that you're making, are the comments of people who have never been shot. Oh, I'm going to tell you that there is no real business baffle right now. There is no casual thought that goes on. Five or six shots in. I don't think it's shoot. Pause, shoot. pause, pause I'm envisioning blam blam. Blam. Blam. Blam. Blam. Blam. Blam. And then it's stop reload. No, it's just it's it's a nine millimeter. She's got 12 shots there. Okay. I don't know. Other four shot the walls are eight limbs body, but the man was shot eight times. It was very that was a very specific number. That wasn't for and impossible. But it was a we're forgetting the part about the fact that she shot him eight times. She somehow was not in prison and didn't go to jail because he didn't press charges. And back then if you know somebody he didn't like he totally didn't snitch on his wife. But now when he killed him with the kill thing he went to jail for a couple years though or something. I don't know how he got rid of mine. What did he say when the police showed up? And they're like, Sir, how did you get shot at times and he's like, this is gonna sound like a crazy story, but I fell down the stairs with my gun. Boop boop, boop, it just got tumbled up in my shirt. I liked it. The guy had the guts to stay in the relationship all the time. You're not gonna feel cool. So, as soon as I heal, I'm gonna shoot you a damn time. Are you like, Oh, no, I think I would. Now unfortunately, my strategy probably proved wrong, given the second shooting and death. But I think I think I would have stood on. Oh, no, I'm staying. And I'm holding this over you now. Every time we have going out tonight with the guys. Yeah. And oh, you got something to say about what? You had bullets? 910 and 11? Yeah, I don't think so. I'm sorry. Guys. I would do guys right now or kill me. I tell you what, though, you got it. I appreciate that. She told you the story of March because of a woman who got who shoots a guy eight times and the guy stays with her. I mean, there's something special about that lady. The reassuring part is my wife is so opposite and timid and quiet and just feel with peace and justice little love that. You just would not think that was the story that you were about to hear. shots. Made Man like, you know, and I'm like, y'all, I'm sitting there. Just like y'all. We're gonna gun What? What? How does he miss? Like, how did he did he fall backwards that she or he that was was he was talking crazy, telling her what he was gonna do. She didn't even go back and forth with him. She walked in a room, got her gun came out shooting. I guess the dude was kinda in the doorway and failed out that like, and my wife was there. Like, that's crazy. Alright, so there's way more to this story. It's not a single segment story. We're gonna take one quick break here. We'll be back. Part Two, we Grif I gotta tell you. For months now, I've been saying Can we please do True Crime podcast? thankful that we finally get to do your podcast, true crime. Stick around. Anybody have any crazy mother in law stories? Like that. Alright, so before we go back to Griff, he kind of raises an interesting point. Do you think there is a time limit on when you have to tell someone in a relationship, something somewhat extreme about your immediate family that they might be marrying into? In the example that we're talking about with Griff mother in law, murders her husband, I feel like you should share that before I've decided I love you. I think it doesn't matter. And I love you and I accept you for who you are. So in the for better, or for worse sickness and an alpha. It feels like it's all encompassing. I don't have to share those kinds of things new because you're in for whatever I'm bringing with me. Maybe you slip it into the vows. I feel like it should be pre marriage. It may not. I feel like it may be first date stuff, but I think it's definitely pretty married. Oh, someone's going on a lot of first dates, if that's what they talk about. On the first day, I would date that woman continually. I would be very interested in film, I would be in at least long enough to meet a person. Yeah. Actually, I think that makes that gives rise to second and third dates for me. Just the story alone. I would probably mean a neutral place. I would probably sit in a place where I could see them approaching me. Oh, yeah. You're wearing catalog? Sure. Alright, we are back with the Griffins. Jamie, Jamie and Adam. He is telling us the fantastic story. Holy moly. I'm pressuring your wife. After you guys have gotten married. Your wife says, You know what we should do tonight? We should tell I don't know. One secret no holds barred. We just one thing that we don't know about each other. I'll start neither shot her husband eight times. plus a few extra what's your data? Okay, so so I think you're already potentially out of context, your new relationship. You're meeting somebody? You're learning information about them. Are your parents still alive? My mom is still alive. Oh, that's good. Do you talk to her oftentimes? You know, we talk we have a decent relationship. How about your dad? No. Unfortunately, my dad's dead. How do you how'd you die? Well, our dad's alive. That was like a stepfather hurt. Okay. So I gotcha. So that was weird. So that was part of the weirdness too, because I've met her dad. Right and he did die a couple months. He died. It'll be two years in October, right but I didn't meet him. before he dies, though, I've never seen a story coming out of nowhere, right? It is literally what? So she tells me the story. She goes back to watch and Bridget is like nothing is looking at that and going. Oh, yeah, dodged a bullet there. Did you mean, you met her dad? Right? It was. That's right. Yes. Okay. But you would thought that the dad would have pulled you aside at some point and said, ask her about the ask her about the gun. You know, my ex wife. I'm not gonna say anything about it. But that's what happened. That's what happened. After everything we've said, I hope your wife watch listens to this episode, but you don't necessarily have to share this with with her mother. No, she could get angry. So So here was my I kept saying I was my mom and her mom was best friends because my mom's been married nine times. And she's just married horrible dude that beat her up. So I got the courage guys about four years ago to tell my mother I said Mom, ought to do you ever mess with our sorry as hell. And I've made I felt good about being able to be grown and telling my mom that. And in the same sense, I tell her that she says, but look how many examples I gave you on how to be a solid? Yeah, right. Right. That's commitment. Right? That is a way to look at it. But it's a dysfunctional way. You've gotten the message at like three or four that right? So when you introduce your man to her Mom, did you say, Hey, Mom, I know how you went through a bunch of bad guys. She had an alternative route. I'm always telling my mom, if you add a little more brand in you. Alright, so we do a question to our guests. Every episode about a meet in three. You're familiar with meat and three restaurant cafeteria style. I know I know. You're talking about Yeah. Alright. So in this example, analogy, rather. What is the meat in your life? What's the organizing principle around which everything else is organized? I heard a mandate from from God when I was very young, that he was going to bless me when I got older. And all I had to do was keep telling people about it. I heard it when I was very young. And is is pretty much the essence of my life. Okay, very good. All right. So now the three what are the three attributes that you would like people to most closely associate with you? three attributes, my generosity, my gratitude. And my selflessness, those are great. Oh, yeah, man, those those are actually we've done? I don't know how many episodes right at this point. But that may be the most succinct Yeah, free that we've had. They play beautifully off your meat of, you know, relationship with the Lord. Right. This is a little bit off topic. But I think you know, I'll probably be talking about do you know, the guy who is the pastor of the Beulah Baptist Church in Decatur? Yes. Very well. And is it Jerry? Yes. Jerry black, maybe Reverend black pastor back. Black as a black? Yes. I did an event. I was the emcee of an event. And he was one of the presenters. It was I was as starstruck meeting that guy. It was such an odd celebrity. Because I've watched him on TV so much at the at the comedy club. He's on TV all the time. He is an amazing speaker. Agree. Yeah. just fascinating. Interesting. What is y'all talking about? Like the same day we talk about nothing. Getting people shot like every day? Oh man of Hastert? No, No, we didn't. We didn't we didn't cover that. No, yeah. No, no, it was because you don't tell that until after you get married. Then you tell them about your mom shooting somebody but you know, pastors pastors are really weird and cool people because the bathrooms that I like, normally did stuff before they became pastors. I really don't. I really can't associate with a Baptist that wasn't like a proper center. Before you became a pastor, like it's something about your testimony, when you used to do something and you're changed because of that, that that like that like that's like part of this studying the curriculum like you take a year off to go just fulfill all of your sin obligations. So you got something to talk about. Wouldn't that be Is that? Are you making that up? No, that's for real me or what do you say? No, that's for real. That's an AI that's in the curriculum. It is. I'm saying that that would be such a fascinating thing to do to say that you couldn't actually help people find their way out of sin. Until you yourself had gone out and committed since it's interesting. Oh, no, you got to sell my pastor made it real simple. One day. I don't eat seafood like that, right? I'm probably just now might be able to eat like half a salmon on a plate if I have to grow. But if I don't eat seafood, then you tell me about how good a damn lobster or trout is in season. It does nothing for me, right? I don't care, you know. But if you if it's some if it's water, and you tell me about this water, and how is the best water, I want to know, how can I get some of that water? Is that analogy made sense? But yeah, that to me, and I'm saying just to me, you could be a pastor that was square. It didn't, you know, add an amazing life. And then you would call you went to seminary or not. But I'm just saying for me, it's something about a man that used to be the head up the crib, and used to be a sex trafficker and was a pimp. And then he changed to be a pastor. Yeah. I'll be calling our murderer to and my wife, they don't say. Yeah. So Griff, we've had a recurrent issue on this podcast, where, for the for the sake of argument, and again, it's a different analogy. The guest is like, the LeBron of the show. Right? Right. Right. You're the you're the special person on the episode. Yeah, the guy who's at the table who we all want to talk to, that we all want to talk to. Right. Right. And you know, you when you've been out with people that away into the group is to pick the right person to make fun of in the group, right? There's the guy that everybody beats on. Right? And that if you're an outsider to the group, one way in the group is to figure out who's the weak link in the group that it's okay to kind of tease a little bit. Yeah. The person that ain't a Jamie, that's true, right. In this case, though, it really is a Jamie. But in this case, we've had a recurrent issue with the other Jamie. He he somehow every episode takes away to get just a little too close. Any attacks little abroad. I was trying to bring an alibi know, call just the transcripts. You know, that was added by the person who is making an example of a pastor who had a cluttered past. Right, right. Right and found a way back to salvation. And you were like your crime committing mother in law. No, I said she was on her path to salvation. Oh, you offended LeBron. And now everybody's evening is ruined. Yeah. And he very quickly said, That's not we're not, we're not going there just yet. Pretty soon He's like, Can I get the check? Oh, I guess I guess we're not gonna beg me to fill in just now. All right, we're gonna be back with lightning round here with Griff in just a second podcast will continue in a moment. All right. So we haven't really discussed this too much with a guest. And it was interesting to listen to Griff talk about his neaten. Three. He's on vacation. Right? I think he's the first guest that we've spoken to. On vacation. I think that's right. We've had one at a restaurant getting kaiso. Right. But this is the first on a vacation. Right? In a house with other couples. No. First question, has either of you ever vacationed with other couples? In a house? No. Yes. Secondly, how challenging Do you think while on vacation with other couples, with your spouse to be able to take a timeout? For the pocket? Wow. I didn't even think of that. It would be very difficult. You'd almost have to pick a fight earlier in the day. So you get some space. You'd have the free time, right? I don't want to talk to you at all till tomorrow. Okay. kind of works out. Okay, cuz I'm doing a park. I'm doing. Don't come in here. Yeah. We are back here for a lightning round segment on the podcast. They're jumping. They're so excited. All right. So Griff, this is very, very easy. We've we tried to have more expansive conversation on some other topics. This instead are deep questions that are oriented towards quick answers. Okay, okay. All right, the guest has the choice of going clockwise or counter clockwise. counter clock wise just to be a non conforming. Clockwise season so I'm glad we finally got a counter. So counter clockwise starting with Jamie. Alright, Griff if animals could sing, which animal would be the best choice to cover Prince's When Doves Cry? dork. If you could retire in any state in the United States, where would that be? Whoa, whoa, you're not counterclockwise. You're clockwise. Boy. Thank you for free. go counterclockwise. There's, there's got to be some reason, right? I'm gonna let Ben know. Go ahead. The theater of the mind. Yeah, we are trying to create here and you just are she really just say no. There's a third wall. They know what clockwise is. That's Jamie. Adam, Jamie, not Jamie. Jamie be sitting in a different configuration. All right, Jeremy. What is the longest you have gone without sleep? I must say maybe 79 hours. Any country outside the United States to retire in for the rest of your life? South Africa, how many jobs would it take to take out a street pigeon from New York City? How many jobs? It's done versus pigeon? How many jobs do we need? Grif. I think tonight he's asked only dove questions. like are they so beautiful? majestic isn't the grand right. Who is the one person you can talk to? About just anything? my homeboy Graham from South Carolina. if your life depended on it, how many fifth graders Do you think you could fight off before they overtake you? as big as they are right now, but I'll probably say a couple. I'm not that. Nice. So Griff animals. lovely girl. So animals take over New York City. Which animal is elected mayor? a manatee just get along. Yeah, cool. What is an innocent mistake you made that had dramatic consequences. I talked about this comedians car outside of a comedy club. And he put up test awami Whoo. Oh, okay. Okay. biggest lesson your mother taught you? You can can or you can Kane nice. Which animals most likely to meditate? This is it this last round? was the last question. Which animal is most likely? If it were possible to meditate? The male peacock? Which fictional villain made you feel real hatred towards them? Great question. I'm gonna go with nurse ratchet from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest character on mash that you want it to be. Man I loved I love that Dude, that was pretending he was gay. cleaner cleaner. Nice. Yeah. Excellent. All right. That's that's the speed round. Well done. you're picturing a dev in your head. What is his name? No, that's outside the speed round. Yes, we're done here. But too many questions. Well, what if I picture the Dev, what's his name your Pictionary job in your head right now. What's his name? Stanley. Stanley, the dove. It's a great name. It is a good don't you glad you let that. Alright, so uh, that ends the lightning round. We're gonna be back with the final segment here with Griff. Stay where you are. someplace where listening to podcasts or podcasts. You guys have a name picked out that you want to be called as a grandparent. I think I'm on board with you know, my dad's boat pamper camp. I feel like we're a pamper family. You're all Pampas. Well, you know, and then offer better. That's awesome. We go sounds a bit stodgy. Haha. I will say having watch I will watch it when they call me big papa. Well, who doesn't love when a great grandparent? Yeah, right. You know, throw your hands in the air like your true player. Yeah, yeah. Right. cross my fingers. That'd be great. All right back for In the last segment it is Jamie. Jamie the dubs. Oh, that would be my Jamie animal question. My mom knows. Jamie. Jamie dubs. Jamie the dubs aka the worst mom. Yeah. Hey, do you hear the hit the Jamie the dog gave over there to Rocco up in New Jersey. You know, what is the worst kind of stole pigeon is a dove. Things like a dove and Adam Hague, our guest. This episode is Griff. So Griff, talk to me about where you are lifewise with what is it that you want to say? Do you feel like when you're on stage, do you feel like you are most interested in talking about relatable observational kind of things that are going on in your life? Or do you feel like, you're kind of motivated to talk about things that are going on in the world that's kind of torn between the two, you know, like, I gotta tell you who I am, that you can appreciate me? And then it's what I see. You know, I'm saying, what kind of, I'm a book reader. I'm a bibliophile. I'm a film watcher. I'm a, you know, I study a lot of different things. I'm a traveler. So I have to relay all these messages and energies back to random people so they can understand that it's a giant planet out here. People always today is a small world. It's not. It's a giant as planet, that two thirds water. And if you can swim, then you devil short. So you spent most of your professional life behind a microphone. Right? Is that fair? Yeah. Okay. Yeah, very brief. And so do you feel like you've become a better communicator, as you've matured? Do you pull punches as you've gotten older? Or do you feel freer and how you communicate now that you've aged, I pull a lot more pledges, you know, it always the comedy came from a very dark place. So I got it on it. You know, my dad been married five times, I've been married nine times. You know, I went to 21 different schools growing up, I saw anger and violence and rage all the time. So I just believed in my soul, and my deoxyribonucleic acid that it had to be a polar opposite. It had to be a place where no one was getting hurt, and when they loved when he was there, and then they almost cried when people just told you that love you. And they're so proud of you. And you know, and I kind of made that my existence. So do you feel as you've gotten older, and we've talked about this on previous episodes, and I've kind of gotten a little bit of grief about it. But do you feel like there's any downside and I know that from you know, male, female kind of perspective, that men tend to be way more guarded from an emotional standpoint with their male friends than women tend to write. I think my mother taught me how to speak female. And a lot of men might not know what that means. But I know how to speak to women. I can communicate with them because I understand that communicating 100% with women is just listening. Talking about animals talking about how many times we've just met, how many times do we have to hang out before you're comfortable? When we depart for the night? You say love you, man. Oh, I tell everybody, I love you. It's kind of like a running joke with my friends. like they'd be uncomfortable. And beginning I know that I'm always gonna say I love yourself, if you can some us face right now his heart is broken. Thought I was all rugged? No, I actually, I knew I had a confidence how you would answer that question. But I think that it that's a people. So most people, I think in their lives have only a handful of people who express themselves that way. And I think there should be more of them. You're talking about people who don't know you who are less familiar with you, and you communicate in the way that you communicate with people. It seems foreign to them initially. Right? Yeah. But then they get accustomed to it. And then you're like, this is where you should be right. Yeah, I mean, why would why would anybody want to be all gated up and blocked up emotionally? life's too short. To get it out. Like you got a death like you gotta love the females like they know how to get it out and they go on about they live. We keep it we keep it we keep it as a berlin wall at 91 like You know, through therapy now I know through books now I know. But you know, talking about my pain, my my tragedy is everybody else's comedy. So that's the drama man. You know, I'm saying it was never planning one of the things to happen. But God blessed me with a gift to be able to change that narrative. And I'm so grateful and thankful for it. I'm so grateful that the Bible says your latter years, you know, what the media doesn't want to get put on when they first start, you know, what comedian doesn't want to do comedy central when you've been doing comedy eight months, and you think you, you know, but but I'm about to celebrate 25th years, one month and two weeks, like, you know, saying like, is, is crazy how the older I get, the more work I get, the more because it's the wisdom. Yeah, you know, I always thought I was a sociologist before just being a comedian, because I understand the norms of human beings, and being able to travel and meet people and stay alive and be safe. That's that. That's a lot of that's a lot of sociology going on. That's a lot of thinking a lot more than offline. Why is it that every comedian describes the amount of time they've been a comedian? Like a prison sentence? No, it's a no this guy. You have to Yeah, people say grip. What time Exactly. Think about it. The point is, I count it because I love it. I'm living my dream job. I am living a dream. I get to wake up in the morning, Monday through Friday and beyond. 47 different radio stations around the country. I get to jump on a stage in front of strangers. And they pay me they fly me in and fly in my wife a stay at a hotel. They give me a lot of money I leave is that is a absolutely cartoons life. And to be able to be that is a blessing. Man. My kids are healthy. My relationships are big. Me and my ex wife are cool. Like, everything is good right now, man real good. Alright, so we're on social media should people look for you?
